Guest guest
Hi PT, Sorry for the blank...we got a new computer but didn't set it up yet. Hoping that will get rid of the sending blank emails!! Nope haven't made gluten yet....not brave enough myself!! We purchase it. It's just amazing to me how when my family and I stopped eating meat....the world of different types of food/options opened up to us. We were so used to purchase convenience (junk) foods at the time. I never thought I would be the type of person purchasing " gluten " and making recipes from it. But my health and now my tastebuds are very thankful that we made that change! We are now transitioning to Veganism....sloooooowly......with this cookbook as well as a couple of others .....it's so much easier than I ever thought it could be. Suzanne <>< MichaelClancy.com Subj: Monk beards & gluten Yeah, they were just a riot. I still chuckle over that picture on the back cover every time I see it. They look happy though. I don't know if I am brave enough to try making gluten yet. Do you do that? If the Lord brings you to it....he will bring you through it! Guest guest
It sure is a great looking cookbook; not the monks, but the recipes. *lol* Stick a guitar in their hands and some sunglasses and they could go on tour as ZZTop impersonators! I have actually never eaten gluten or seitan before, which is mainly why I am timid to try making my own. I am thinking I should have a better handle on how it is supposed to be first before making it myself! Since you eat it often and have seen how they make it in this cookbook, are you tempted to try making your own yet? If you are or do try it, let us know how it comes out. We used to have a nice lady that was a member here named JC and if I recall correctly she made her own gluten all the time. ~ PT ~ The only good is knowledge and the only evil is ignorance. ~ Socrates (469-399 BC) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~> , DarinSuzyGates@a... wrote: > Hi PT, > > Sorry for the blank...we got a new computer but didn't set it up yet. Guest guest
I have been making seitan entrees the *quick way* (it mixes up in about 2 minutes, using vital wheat gluten and spices + liquids and nutritional yeast) since reading about Joanne Stepaniak's recipes, and also some recipes found on web sites: SEITAN--THE VEGETARIAN WHEAT MEAT -- The Vegetarian Resource Group http://www.vrg.org/recipes/vjseitan.htm Other seitan recipes online at vegweb.com - - - Vegan / Vegetarian Meat Substitute Recipes http://vegweb.com/food/subs/ Also, any cookbook by Joanne Stepaniak has *wonderful* recipes using seitan - I love the " ribs " especially, found in " Vegan Vittles " . Other of her books I love are: " Ecological Cooking " and " Vegan Deli " Cherie
