Guest guest
Call animal control. I don't know what your city ordinances are in your town, but here in Oregon there is a ten minute rule. It is okay for a dog to bark at normal things, like passers-by, or loud cars etc. But if dogs are left outdoors all the time and they bark non-stop out of boredom or neglect, then it is against the law. The animal control officer will come to you or just take the report over the phone. Then they will visit the dog owners and they will NOT, in most cases, tell exactly who complained. They will check to make sure the dogs are well fed, have up to date shot records, and have valid licenses. They will warn the pet owners that they must change how they are handling the dogs, and if they don't comply they will start getting fined and or have the dogs removed. All of this might be in the dog's best interest. It sure doesn't sound like they are happy, and if the get taken away there is at least a chance they might end up in a nicer home. ~ PT ~ When eating bamboo sprouts, remember the man who planted them. ~Chinese Proverb ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~> , " Sheryl " <ssarndt> wrote: > Here is another question: I have a neighbor who keeps 2 dogs in her > VERY small backyard with no shelter from the elements. Guest guest
Actually I did call animal control about the barking. They sent a letter to the people. The people did nothing to solve the problem. Animal control sent the letter anonymously, but they did say that they have to reveal my identity if they request it in writing and if I want to take this any further then I will have to go to court and they will know who I am. I can also call in a complaint about the dogs not having any shelter and they will send an officer out to check it out. I feel bad for not having walked over there to talk to them myself, but I do not know these people at all and they obviously do not care or they would have rectified the problem by now. They also obviously do not care or they would have a house for their dogs. I just don't know what to do! I have to live 10 feet from these irresponsible people. Any help is appreciated! Thanks! , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll> wrote: > Call animal control. I don't know what your city > ordinances are in your town, but here in Oregon > there is a ten minute rule. Guest guest
Aw, this really sucks. Sorry you don't have a good animal control organisation in your area. I know they differ from region to region. You should not feel badly for not going over there in person. I don't know as I would do that either, but I don't know, t'would greatly depend on my mood. I would certainly go with another person if I dared go at all. Maybe you could send them an anonymous note in the mail that expresses your deep concern for their dogs? They might not listen to it or accept it in the spirit it is given, but it is worth a shot. In this note you could offer them some ideas for making the dogs more comfortable or suggest to them a rescue organisation they could give the dogs over to if they happened to realise they are in over their heads with the care of these dogs in such small living conditions. Sometimes people are forced to move due to finacial situations and don't feel they have any alternatives. Maybe they would give their dogs to someone else if they felt assured they would find a home for them and it wouldn't cost them money to do it. One of the local vegetarian club members suggested an interesting device designed to emit a high frequency noise when the dogs bark! The pet store has them and I'm going to go get one. At least it would take care of that problem. What to do, though about the shelter situation...
Guest guest
If you live in Canada, Bosley's have a nice calender this year with various rescue and humane groups throughout the country. Guest guest
Assuming this causes the poor dogs no further harm, this sounds like an interesting approach, and I hope it works out for you. Too bad there wasn't a device to emit a loud high frequency noise that affected only the humans who have forced their dogs to live such a shitty life. *lol* Let us know how it goes. ~ PT ~ When nations grow old, the arts grow cold and commerce settles on every tree. ~ William Blake, poet, engraver, and painter (1757-1827) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~> , " Sheryl " <ssarndt> wrote: > Thanks for your support!
