Guest guest
Here in Meat Land it's worse than just smelling the fried meat on Fast Food Row every time one drives that way, due to two other horrors that exist near-by -- a rendering plant UP WIND, and the stock-yards / slaughter houses in the middle of the city. Try smelling THOSE and wanting to eat meat -- and yet, daily, most people here do just that. Talk about amazing. And disgusting. Guest guest
Ugh! That sounds horrible; I cannot even imagine how bad it must be in the summer months. :::not exactly sure what a " rendering plant " is::: :::certain from the sounds of it, it is quite disgusting and should be criminal::: ~ PT ~ Throw out all the age-long samskaras [innate tendencies] which are inside us.Ê When all of them have been given up, the Self will shine alone. ~ Sri Ramana Maharshi ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~> , The Stewarts <stews9@c...> wrote: > Here in Meat Land it's worse than just smelling the fried meat on Fast > Food Row every time one drives that way, due to two other horrors that > exist near-by -- a rendering plant UP WIND, and the stock-yards / > slaughter houses in the middle of the city. > > Try smelling THOSE and wanting to eat meat -- and yet, daily, most people > here do just that. > > Talk about amazing. Guest guest
I feel for you. J.R. Simplot has a meat rendering plant in Nampa, a town about 15 minutes from Boise. I don't have to drive past it often, since it isn't on a main road or anything, but when I do have to drive by, it literally makes me gag. It smells like death and decay. This particular plant is also a slaughterhouse, and I actually know someone who works on the kill floor, in the offal area, and still eats meat. Amazing and disturbing. --- The Stewarts <stews9 wrote: > Here in Meat Land it's worse than just smelling the > fried meat on Fast > Food Row every time one drives that way, due to two > other horrors that > exist near-by -- a rendering plant UP WIND, and the > stock-yards / > slaughter houses in the middle of the city. Guest guest
That is disturbing! You know how when the police and people in the justice system describe the worst sort of killer as a " butcher " , at least on TV shows they do. *lol* Well, you can surely understand why. My acquaintence that is a " meat cutter " for a large grocery store chain always corrects me if I slip and refer to him as a butcher 'cause he says the butchers are the ones that kill the animals; then it is my turn to correct him by saying, " no. butchers murder the animals. " And it isn't just that either. As if that all weren't bad enough, there is a great deal of wastefulness going on behind the scenes, too. He described to me how he had to literally throw away 100s of fresh turkeys that didn't sell over the holidays! So those animals were and still are often murdered for nothing but to end up in a dumpster! ~ feral ~ Is it I From earth and sky Shut out, or they From my closed heart? ~ Kathleen Raine, 'The Oracle in the Heart' ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~> , Lori <mrsshf> wrote: > This particular plant is also a slaughterhouse, and I > actually know someone who works on the kill floor, in > the offal area, and still eats meat.
