does anyone who has taken metabolife or any similar product of the ephedra-free

variety experienced high blood pressure? I went to the doctor for an

upper-respiratory infection, and when they took my blood pressure it was 150

over 86. Needless to say I was a tad shocked. Normally it's below 130 (systolic)

and last time i was to the doc it was 116 over 60-something. the nurse said to

keep an eye on it and if it was still high to schedule an appointment to have it

looked at again. (i completely forgot i was taking the diet pill until after i

got back; i'd just told them I took over the counter psuedoephedrine (sudafed)

when they asked me if I was taking any meds but none since the night before.

add to that i am a tad overweight, but being vegan, i eat healthy. any medical

people on this board who might know feel free to chime in.

Sounds like you might have what they refer to as

" white coat syndrome " : the sudden elevation of BP for

the simple fact you are in a doctor's office. I get that, too.

I so loath going to the doctor's office that my BP is

always much higher when there than it is any other

time I get it checked. Definately keep a watch on it,

and hopefully someone here will be able to answer

your question about the Metabolife (ephedra free),

but I would suggest you keep checking it at other times.

Most drug stores have handy BP cuff machines where

you can give yourself a quick check in a more relaxed

setting.

yeah, that's what i'm going to do. I checked it a few times in the past and it

would be in teh low 130's for systolic which is sitll a little high for me, but

i think that was even before i was taking the metabolife EF.

the thing that scared the s*** out of me was i had a dream last night that my

weekend newscast editor died suddenly of a heart attack, and usually if i dream

about something happening to something else, it happens to someone else i'm

close to or me. (i had recurring thoughts that ronald reagan died the day

before my grandma died two weeks ago and I had a dream three years ago that my

aunt's youngest daughter i found dead in a hospital bed, my uncle (her youngest

brother & my godfather) died of complications from a bone marrow transplant the

next day on New year's day.

and here today i see i have way high blood pressure for me, when it's always

been rediculously low in the past. ij ust hope the dream last night was just

some aftereffects of watching vh1's movie on the life of the Temptations (oen of

the characters died of a heart attack). Just call me paranoid.

I am usually very low, but upper-resp infections seem to stress my body quite a

bit, especially if I'm having a lot of trouble breathing. My doctor noted that

such an infection could affect my blood pressure.

I don't know about metabolife, but I can tell you FOR SURE that

SUDAFED definately raises your blood pressure. 2 years ago, in the

middle of breakfast, my husband sprouted a nosebleed that wouldn't

stop. I ended up taking him first to a local clinic and then to the

hospital emergency room. He was having heart palpitations and

difficulty breathing. His BP was EXTREMELY high. Reason for this:

SUDAFED. He had been having sinus problems, and wouldn't listen when

I told him to go to the doctor...popped sudafed instead. He is lucky

he didn't have a stroke or worse.
