Guest guest
My son recently went vegetarian. He's just turned 7. Both of my kids have been veggie off and on. This time, Jake has been totally veggie for at least 3 weeks now! He's also allergic to milk, so has to drink soy milk. We already eat very little meat, which is why I'm a member of this group (though not active lately) and I know a bit about eating balanced meals to get proper nutrition. The only problem with this is that he is not eating much of anything healthy. What are some fun tips to get a kid to eat healthy? Especially the veggies? Maybe some fun recipes? What do other veggie kids like? Any tips are appreciated. Peace and Harmony, Sherri My family webpage: http://www.xanga.com/skin.asp?user=SherriB Books just wanna be FREE! Guest guest
Good for your son, Sherri! While my son is not a vegetarian [yet], I do also find it a challenge to get him to eat veggies! One tip I can share that has been very helpful for me is to have him working in the kitchen with me while I prepare the salad or vegetables. If he washes and peels the carrots, he is more apt to eat them~ taking pride in his handywork so to speak. My 10 year old only likes raw veggies and fruits, so if I am fixing a veg side dish he doesn't like, I take extra care to be sure there is some sort of fresh fruit for him to have instead. Fun shaped multi-vitamins, like Flintstones and Vitaballs (gumballs with vitamins in them!) really help as well. One other rule I have is that he must try everything~ even if he has tried it before. I tell him that as he grows his tastes are changing, so things he didn't like a year ago he might find taste fine to him now. Good luck to you, Sherri... and BTW, it is nice to see you post again. Hope all is going well with you. ~ PT ~ Nature never did betray the heart that loved her. ~ William Wordsworth (1770-1850) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~> , Sherri5762@a... wrote: > What are some fun tips to get a kid to eat healthy? > Especially the veggies? Guest guest
funny you mention your son not liking cooked veggies. I'm 43 and I never have and never will ever like cooked broccoli. I can hang with raw flowerets and a dip even if its just mustard but no cooked lol stay cool, Dave
