Guest guest
I read awhile back that they will be putting in some computer stations in some of the U.S. locations and redecorating those as well... Guest guest
LOL! I tried it....grey pattie (which looked strange, imo, NO veggie color...just GREY) and bigger and thicker than I've purchased at the stores. I liked that it had a smoky flavor and was different than any other " veggie " patty that I've tried but homemade is always MUCH better! S. , RMS <rmshore@s...> wrote: > I live in a small town and there isn't many places for teenagers to work. Therefore, my 16 year old son works at McDonald's (he likes it there, they treat him very well). So when the new veggie burger came out I thought I would try it. Oh I know, what was I thinking, this was McDonald's! It was the most vile thing I have ever tried. Not only does it look bad and it was like rubber but the taste was horrible. If you love your taste buds do not make the same mistake. LOL >
Guest guest
i haven't had mcdonald's veggie burger, but i have tried burger king's. sounds about the same. why can't they just use boca like johnny rockets does? at least it's something available when on the interstates. although i'd hold out for a wendy's baked potato...or, denny's has gardenburgers. laura On Feb 11, 2004, at 4:12 PM, matrixenos wrote: > LOL! Guest guest
Imho, the bk veggie " looks " much better and more like a store bought pattie as opposed to the grey mechanical Mcthing-uh-muh-bopper. If I HAD to choose between the 2, I'd go with bk (had 1 Mc and a few BK). Wendy's baked potatos are perty good tasting by themselves but even better when you take them home and spruce the suckers up a bit. I really enjoy getting a James Coney Island (every once in a great while) fully topped, only hold the bacon and add pickled jalp slices instead. They salt coat the tater skins. Johnny Rockets sounds interesting...is that a well known place or chain? Have you tried the Denny's Gardenburgers? Guest guest
johnny rockets is like a fake 50's diner. they're not as common as a mcd or bk but they're spreading around. http://www.johnnyrockets.com/ the first time i had a streamliner (their veggie burger) i had to keep examining it to make sure it wasn't meat. oh, wow. i haven't actually been to a denny's in a couple of years. i just checked their site and see that you can sub a boca burger for any of their hamburgers at no extra charge. nice! http://dennys.com/ last time i went they had the gardenburger brand burgers. laura On Feb 11, 2004, at 5:14 PM, matrixenos wrote: > Imho, the bk veggie " looks " much better and more like a store bought > pattie as opposed to the grey mechanical Mcthing-uh-muh-bopper. Guest guest
Wow! I didn't know that Denny's will sub a Boca Burger (or even knew what a Boca Burger was), now that is cool. been many years since I have crossed the threshold of any place like that. I'd still be a little freaked out by the margin for error factor, and then there is the residue factor. Yes...good to know. Thanks Laura for the info. on that and the J.Rockets bit. I saw the gardenburger on Dennys menu several months ago but had no idea bout the boca bit....great to know that there is another option out there. > > I'd still be a little freaked out by the margin for error factor, and then there is the residue factor. Guest guest
Yep. a couple times. I love burrito's too, and here in the bay area there is no shortage of places to get them, so to find a place that makes decent vegan burrito's is pretty easy but, there have been a few times. Whether error or carelessness it doesn't matter, it is still a gross freaky thing and yeah there is definitely a 'not right' taste to it. Typically if I am away from my vegan friendly mecca of the SF Bay I am at Subway. It is exciting to learn that I now almost have an actual choice. Shalom, Scott morgaana [morgaana] Wednesday, February 11, 2004 3:35 PM Re: Re: Upscale Mcrap? true, there is that. you're always taking a risk eating in a restaurant unless it's veggie/vegan. i'm mostly thinking of cross country road trip situations. denny's isn't in my regular rotation. a couple of times i've had meat end up in my food. once i ordered a thai tofu burrito carry out, normally really yummy. got it home, took a bite, and it was chicken. the moment i tasted it i knew it was wrong. it had a harsh chemical taste to it. out i spat it and made the trip back to the shop. has anyone else had this happen and notice how gross and full of chemicals the meat tasted? i just remember i being really shocking and something i never noticed way back when i actually ate the stuff. laura On Feb 11, 2004, at 6:21 PM, Scott Turner wrote: > Wow! Guest guest
ah, yes, i'm a former bay area resident; 5 years in san jose and 8 years in san francisco. i have access to pretty much all the same things here in atlanta, it's just very spread out. i am definitely now spoiled on major metropolitan areas and i can't see myself NOT living in one. missing the corner vegetable stands.... laura On Feb 11, 2004, at 6:46 PM, Scott Turner wrote: > Yep. a couple times.
