Guest guest
Hi Melody, I don't know...It's not that I don't like fruits and vegetables because I do...but it's like I just get tired of eating them everyday. For example, I like baby carrots, but after about ten of them (the recommended serving on the package) I'm just sick of them. And if I eat a salad everyday, it's not too long before I'm tired of them too. I like fruits but I usually eat melons. Sometimes I'll eat oranges, and although I like apples, I rarely eat those. Any suggestions to keep me from getting bored with them? Thanks Lydia , nadiana1@a... wrote: > hey lydia! > > tell me more about what is making the inclusion of fruits and veggies > difficult for you, and i'll do my best to help you out... > > melody > > > http://www.melodysmusic.net > > >
Guest guest
Well, Lydia, I suggest that you do two things: vary the vegetables that you eat, and vary the way you eat vegetables. You might make a commitment to try one new vegetable every week, or to try one new way of preparing them every week. For instance, I love green beans, and they can be significantly different depending on how you prepare them. Same with potatoes, for that matter- potatoes have a lot of flexibility. Guest guest
Excellent advice and encouragement we can all use. Thanks Melody. *s* I especially enjoyed the idea to try something strange and different from the produce isle. Some grocery stores offer ideas and recipes for preparation of unusual fruits and veggie items, and if they don't, find one of the employees in that area and pick their brain. If they know their product, they should be able to offer an idea or two. I used to be really shy about this, but I am getting better! *lol* ~ PT ~ A true measure of your worth includes all the benefits others have gained from your successes. ~ Cullen Hightower, salesman and writer (1923- ) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~~~~~> , nadiana1@a... wrote: > > Any suggestions to keep me from getting bored with them? > > > > Thanks > > Lydia > absolutely! > > stuff a sandwich with spinach, tomatoes and cabbage; use spaghetti squash > instead of pasta; give yourself a side-dish of baked yam/sweet potato " fries, " > make veggie soups and stews, buy a big bag of frozen mixed veggies, especially > the ones with brocolli in them, and make a quick stir fry, use grated > carrots, zuchinni, yams, and/or spinach instead of white potatoes in your favourite > potato pancake recipe... > > one of the things i recommend to my clients is that when you see a fruit or > vegetable that you don't recognize, buy it, try it, and if you like it, great! > if not, you never have to eat it again. also, try to see how many > different coloured fruits and veggies you can include in your diet in a week. you'll > get plenty of variety, and the different colours are basically nutritional > meters-- each different colour means that that fruit or vegetable is rich in a > certain nutrient or combination of nutrients. the brighter the colour, the > better. > > hope this helps! i've got lots more ideas/recipes if you'd like them. > > melody > > > http://www.melodysmusic.net > > >
