The more animal protein a person ate, the higher his or her weight, she said. " You can find the entire article here: http://www.cnn.com/2004/HEALTH/diet.fitness/03/06/heart.diet.reut/index. html This article will go into my ever increasing file of information to share with friends who hop on the low-carb bandwagon. Maybe in addition to learning that eating more meat isn't going to help them lose weight, they might even think about alternatives to a meat-centric diet. Guest guest
I don't think that defending vegetarianism with flawed standards such as the BMI is either effective or healthy. " Weighing less " does not equal " being healthier " . Someone in favor of meat-eating could claim that people who weigh more do so because the nutrients in meat contribute to greater bone density and more muscle mass, and they could be correct. Someone in favor of meat-eating could claim that people who weigh more do so because the nutrients in meat contribute to greater bone density and more muscle mass, and they could be correct. I don't feel any need to defend vegetarianism at all, personally. Increased meat consumption is being touted by increasing numbers of my friends as a weight loss method. I don't believe that it's a healthy way to lose weight (that being their goal, not mine). I choose to share information that may give them a bigger picture than what Dr. Atkins wrote in his book, not convert anyone to my way of thinking or defend my personal choices. It was an interesting (to me) article that I thought others might enjoy as well, not a marketing tool for PETA et al. -- Sherri " To a true warrior, anything is a potential weapon. Can you send the address again? Guest guest
Or even more likely: meat-eaters weigh more than vegetarians because of the pounds of rotting flesh inevitably stuck in their colon. , reptile grrl <reptilegoddess> wrote: " Someone in favor of meat-eating could claim that people who weigh more do so because the nutrients in meat contribute to greater bone density and more muscle mass, and they could be correct.
