Guest guest
yeah, share them. here's some things I noticed from when I used to work at Mc D's and another fastfood restaurant; Just a fair warning this gets pretty gross.... But you should definitely read on if you still patronize fast food restaurants at all... If you get a veggie burger at Bk or Mc D's (even if you ask that they wave it) realize that the microwave is cleaned very rarely and there is probably meat grease in it. The bun will be touched by meat contaminated hands. They may also reuse a bun for a veggie burger after they already put meat on it. The fries (which of course have beef in them) are fried in the same hydrogenated oils and the fryer smokes a lot because of all the old fries down there. Even if you found a fast food restaurant that doesn't put meat in the fries, you can bet that fries are often put in the same fryer as chicken nuggests, fish fillets, etc. Employees rarely wear gloves even though we usually had some. People often don't wash their hands, or if they do not well, because they are under so much pressure to make bathroom breaks fast (The bathrooms of course are rarely cleaned). Even if they do wear gloves they don't worry about touching meat and then touching the few other things that they sell because they are in too much of a hurry. So if you are a lacto-ovo or vegan who goes to a fast food restaurant realize that more than likely your food has been touched by hands that have touched meat (possibly RAW meat / eggs). there is also a risk that anyone with a cut is bleeding on the food. Several times during the two years I worked there someone accidentally served a burger that was almost completely raw. Again, because everyone is in such a hurry. I imagine the same thing happens with eggs (which are fried on the same grill as bacon and burgers by the way). People are not allowed to call in sick. It depends a little on the manager, but people who call in sick are typically given threats of being fired or suspended if they do not come in because these restaurants are always short-handed. Thus, sick employees are likely coughing / sneezing into their hands if not directly onto the food. A co-worker of mine found a chickenhead complete with the beak in one of the chicken nuggests. I'm not sure why this is any grosser than eating any meat, but most meateaters seem to think it is. In the fast food italian restaurant I worked at there were rumors that employees have urinated and spit in the food. A lot of things that spoil easily (i.e. mayo, cheese, etc.) often remain unfridgerated for long periods of time. The mayo at the italian place was almost brown by the end of the day. The shake machines are rarely cleaned and frequently get clogged with old mix. I have no idea whether this is a health risk but the stuff stuck in the machine looks more like cheese than milk. , The Stewarts <stews9@c...> wrote: > Share some with us, we deserve to know, hm? > > On Friday, March 12, 2004, at 03:29 AM, > wrote: > > > Message: 4 > > Thu, 11 Mar 2004 07:56:20 -0800 (PST) > > leah chavah <avital_shalom> > > Re: Re: Wendy's Workers Photographed Bathing In Restaurant Sink > > > > i am not surprised by this. i worked at wendys before and have seen > > things that would make you stay home for dinner lol. > > > > leah:) > " In real combat, if you have ammunition you can get food " . > Dan Waltimire, explaining why he carried less food and more ammo. Guest guest
Where are your Health Inspectors? I live in a small town so maybe it's different elsewhere, but our inspectors are very good and this stuff doesn't happen here. And, our town is small enough we would hear about it in a heartbeat. Do you have a hot-line to call this stuff in? PS. Gloves are the worst thing to use....hand sanitizer used every 30 minutes has proving better at killing bacteria (can supply source) and air drying to towel drying. dave <dave4sale wrote: yeah, share them. here's some things I noticed from when I used to work at Mc D's and another fastfood restaurant; Just a fair warning this gets pretty gross.... Guest guest
most of the stuff that goes on with the food is with the meat burgers.. i would say we are safe eating the salads and meatless stuff. its not that the wendys i worked at wouldnt pass health inspection it definately would. the burger king down the street from it i hear didnt pass their last health inspection and they got shut down. they had mice and everything you could think of, and from what i heard i think the manager were paying the other health inspectors off. he didnt get lucky with the last one though. leah Where are your Health Inspectors? Guest guest
ok i just read this. i am happy to say the the things at my wendys were not as bad as BK or Mcdonalds. although there are some people who dont wear the gloves but they do wash their hands. i was one that always wore gloves. we always cleaned the bathroom if there wasnt a rush. there was cross contamination with the beef and sandwhich makers. the fish and nuggets were cooked in the same fryer as the fries. there was however a barrier that seperated the two. i didnt see it but they might have borrowed the frye side from time to time i am really not sure. i think as being a vegetarian we are taking risks eating in these places. they are not the carefulest i dont think when it comes to those things. leah:) RMS <rmshore wrote: Where are your Health Inspectors? Guest guest
I don't think health inspectors ever came- at least I've never heard about it. When the " secret shoppers " that work for the corp came, we would be given an advance notice so we were pressured to keep the store cleaner than normal. And smile. I worked in the suburbs of Philly, so perhaps the inspectors have so many restaurants to inspect they don't even bother with longtime " respected " joints like Mc D's. This is only a hunch. , RMS <rmshore@s...> wrote: > Where are your Health Inspectors?
