Guest guest
By the tone of your language and the use of the fowl words I'd say that you need some self esteem. If in the future you desire to make a change in your life another Masters may be a good thing. I guess it depends on what your future holds and where you want to take your future. Guest guest
But 5 weeks of work may be a turning point for your future. You've gone this far 5 weeks more will be done and gone and then you can really enjoy the things that bring you joy and you won't have a dark shadow hanging over you head with the " what ifs. Guest guest
hey guys beena while since i posted, but i need some advice or personal insights, etc. i have a bit of a personal dilemma. i have absolutely no motivation to study for my masters degree exam which is 5 weeks from tuesday and at points seriously considering throwing the test just so I can be free of it, masters degree or no. i've been going after it in fits & starts since last fall, and having put my life on hold for so long after I was supposed to take it back in january, I enjoyed having my life back, the painting, writing, photography etc. all of which i chucked by the wayside just so i could try to finish this f***ing test. I'm tired of it. And honestly, part of me would have no regrets about it either, because I think of putting the test behind me at this exact moment in time, and it's as if a great weight is lifted from my shoulder and I finally feel i'm free to live my life without this hanging over my head. I'm just tired of it. I wanted my life back, and I enjoy having my life back, instead of this consuming every single minute of my day & having no time for anything, even cleaning my fucking house. (of which for that i'm calling a cleaning service) in my immediate field, having a masters degree really doesn't impact my current line of work, but my only concer is later on if i were to switch fields, where a masters degree might look better. but i just have no desire to do this anymore. Guest guest
i'm pretty sure self esteem doesn't factor into it. my apologies for the language though. the " word " just pretty much sums up my whole feeling in the matter at the moment. Part of me doesn't want to drop it, but I've just grown so thoroughly weary of the whole thing. i want to focus more on the things that bring me joy and uplift me (like my photography, painting, etc.), and this feels like it has just been a lead weight dragging me down because this has been so all-consuming that i have time for nothing else. Guest guest
Hey Megan, it's nice to hear from you again...I'm a fan! Now get your arse back to it and finish what ya started. Yes, " part of you would have no regrets " , so I humbly suggest and reassure you to listen to your other part, as well as doing it for yourself and not your current line of work. I've been on the list for some time now, and I've known that you have been working at this ever since. So, you've come this far and I'd say go for it all! You can do it and you know it. You've obviously got what it takes...intelligence, motivation, heart. What a great accomplishment this would be. Be an inspiration, Megan! We could all use some. Guest guest
megan, it would be a shame for you to give up now. i think you will regret it if you don't finish your master's degree. i have a friend who was in a similar situation. she got through her comp. exams and wrote her thesis, but her committee wanted her to do an extensive rewrite. by that time she was just fed up and never did the rewrite and did not get her masters degree. she totally regrets it. years later, she went back and got her masters from another school and is now working on her ph.d. i understand grad. school is stressful and all-consuming, but you've come so far and you've put so much time, effort, money, etc. into it, you should see it through to the end. you will be glad you did. --- Megan Milligan <yasminduran wrote: > hey guys beena while since i posted, but i need > some advice or personal insights, etc. i have a bit > of a personal dilemma. i have absolutely no > motivation to study for my masters degree exam which > is 5 weeks from tuesday and at points seriously > considering throwing the test just so I can be free > of it, masters degree or no. > > i've been going after it in fits & starts since last > fall, and having put my life on hold for so long > after I was supposed to take it back in january, I > enjoyed having my life back, the painting, writing, > photography etc. all of which i chucked by the > wayside just so i could try to finish this f***ing > test. Guest guest
thanks shawn. I think I just lost my center over the weekend, so after some reflection the last few days, I feel back on track and have something of a gameplan for better organizing my studying during the next five weeks (tackle one subject a week and the final week go over all materials again). someone suggested more meditation and taking a few minutes of " me " time each day, and that seems to be helping a lot. And I'll try to be an inspiration. thanks again.
