Guest guest
hey all - just curious if anyone here enjoys bitters? in drink in food for cooking or for health. i love angorstura bitters, peychaud's, and some of the other ones i have tried, like orange bitters etc. really intense and complex flavors. i have been toying with the idea of making some of my own. i am really liking the idea of some spicey floral apricot bitters. i have found a few recipes out there, and get the general idea, but was curious if any one here had any thoughts on bitters. in other news i switched to the digest, and stiff having a hard time keeping up. bought the domains for the hot sauce today, and secured the hosting so that is one chore done. bayheat.com - pretty slick. hopefully i'll have that up and running soon. anyway - hope all is well with all. shalom, scott
Guest guest
It's funny you should mention Bitters.....years ago I was struck with sever stomach pains while I was at work. A co worker who also worked as a bartender saw what was happening to me and went over to the bar that was attached to the store we worked in. He came back with an alcoholic drink that he said was a bitter and soda and that this drink had a medicinal effect of calming upset stomachs. I was apprehensive about consuming it seeing how I was " at work " and it was an alcoholic beverage...but he assured me the only reason he brought it to me was to give me relief....so I drank it...and it had an immediate calming effect. The QUICKEST relief I ever had in my life...I have always wanted to find bitters for my own use in times of need, but have never been able to find them....any suggestions??? Guest guest
not sure where you are located, but Angostura bitters can be bought at most safeways or albertsons in the spirits section. and just about every decent liquor shop should have it with their spirits. good for stomach discomfort indeed. i was hoping to make it to bevmo and cost plus today to buy some everclear, masons jars, and some roots & herbs but i forgot about it being easter. any one know of any online resources for roots, bark, herbs, & such? anyway, i'll keep you posted on my experiments. cheers - scott , Angela S Ryer <thrasher125@j...> wrote: > It's funny you should mention Bitters.....years ago I was struck with > sever stomach pains > while I was at work.
