Guest guest
Hi folks, I am Arjun and I come from India. I belong to a community were eating meat is encouraged for strength etc..an all that crap. About 8 months back I decided to change my habits and adopt a more rational way of eating. I remember in the days of my non-vegetarianism I would ridicule vegatarians and justify my habits saying that man is an omnivorous animal and all that. The reason for my conversion .. one fine day my conscience overpowered me and for good. Actually I am an artist and a staunch admirer and lover of nature. The beauty that I now see in a live animal is so much gratifying that seeing the poor thing dead and served on a platter well garnished. And observing the beauty of life applies to any form of animal..from a small bug to the most ferocious feline creatures. Even plants and the flowers on them.. I will share with you all some India recipies once I have them documented and also my musings (if they are welcome). thanks & love Arjun India Matrimony: Find your partner online. Guest guest
Hi Arjun, I would love to try out some of your recipes when you have time to share them. Indian food is one of my absolute favorites, and my husband and I eat it frequently. We have come across a few southern Indian restaurants here in Northern California and love it as they are all 100% vegetarian. Your words about your conscience and your love of animals really touches me. Although I initially became a vegetarian for health reasons, it wasn't long afterwards that I realized that my love of animals was a strong ethical reason for vegetarianism. I do lots of volunteer work with animal rights and rescue groups, and that just doesn't mesh with being a meat eater. I agree with you that the beauty of life should be respected in all creatures. Just because we have the ability to kill animals and eat them doesn't mean that it is ethically right to do so. Don't mean to be getting heavy about this. I actually try not to be a moralistic vegetarian, as I believe people must come to their own decision about this issue when and if they choose. If someone asks me why I'm a vegetarian I am blunt about my beliefs, but I never try to force my beliefs on others. Guest guest
Hi folks, Hope this mail find u all in the best of health and spirits. I am glad that Laurie you too like me have a concern for other living beings & also that you do not force your views upon others. I promised to give some India recipes and till I have my mother's specialities documented and shareable I refer you to this site http://www.tarladalal.com/ This has all kinds of India recipes. (Unfortunately the site also has non-veg dishes :-( as it caters to all kinds). To be able to view all the recipes you can activate a trial membership for 2 days after which you must take a paid subscription. So the day you are reasonably free, sit for some time and copy the recipes to a word doc. luv & take care Arjun laurieadrienne wrote:Hi Arjun, I would love to try out some of your recipes when you have time to share them.
