Guest guest
Greetings all! That's right, I'm new to this list. Your moderator, after seeing by my profile that I have interests in vegetarianism, was good enough to send me an invitation, so here I am! I am 33 (+1 in July), married, and live in north-central Arkansas. I have of late been re-thinking the way I eat, and am seriously considering not totally removing meat from my diet, but having many more meat-free meals. It stands to reason that it would be way more healthy to have more meat-free meals, so I'm all for it! Thanks for the invite, and many blessings to you all! John W. Friends. Fun. Guest guest
Hi John and everyone, I'm brand new too. I have been a vegetarian on and off since the '70s. I'm 46 years old, living in Northern NJ, with a husband, 3 sons in their 20's and a 5 year old Shih Tzu who thinks she's a human child. I recently stopped eating mammals again and stopped using leather. I just can't snuggle my dog, then eat or wear a cow. There's plenty of cute shoes and purses without harming animals to have them. I still eat some seafood for now. I just lost 22 pounds on a low-carb diet, and I'm trying to keep it going without the meat. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, by reading your stories and learning from you all. Sue John Walsh <budicebear wrote: Greetings all! That's right, I'm new to this list. Guest guest
I'm in the tiny town of Pine Ridge (pop. 18) between Mena and Mount Ida. Nice to have you in the group. I don't eat any animals at all anymore. I used to work for Tyson down in Grannis, so I just know WAAAY too much to ever eat chicken again. And when I found out that the same kinds of things happen with the other animals raised for meat, well, I just gave it all up forever. I will NEVER go back. If you are ever the least bit curious about what happens in a chicken slaughter plant, check out my site, especially the early archives where all the really bad stuff is posted. But, be ready to swear off chicken forever if you do. It tends to have that effect on people. It's pretty graphic, but every bit true, nonetheless. Guest guest
Thank you, Virgil, for sharing what you know on your website. I cried reading it, and when I think of how many others push what happens out of their minds in order to continue to eat meat, my heart goes out to the animals that have to give up their lives in the most painful way.
