Guest guest
Warm welcome to the group, Amber. You will find that many of us here can empathize with your recent criticism. i am curious what that nurse said to you. Feel free to share if you would like. At the least we can pat you on the back and tell you to keep your chin up, but if we are really cheeky we can give you some good one-liners to use next time she opens her yap! *lol* ~ pt ~ True words are not always pretty; pretty words are not always true. ~ Japanese proverb ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~> , " Amber " < your_babes_is_here2003> wrote: > Hi group, > > Just wanted to say hello and thanks to the moderator for the > invite. it couldnt have come at a better time. i just recently > (February) made the decision to change my eating habits to > veegetarian and let me tell you something. i have never been > subjected to so much criticism before. you dont realize how closely > people are watching you, until you do something out of the ordinary, > out of the norm. > > i was somewhat bothered by a comment that a nurse in our unit made > to me. i wanted to speak with someone about it, but didnt have > anyone to turn to. > > --Amber
Guest guest
i want to say thank you to everyone for the warm welcoming. what the nurse told me kind of embarassed me. made me feel a little more self-conscious. she told me that she could smell an odor. she went on to say that she could smell the keytones, that i was burning muscle. not quite sure if i should believe her, as she is against veg. i have also been making sure that i have my proteins from nuts, beans, lentils, tofu....... she just really irritated me. i have one colleague is is close enough to me (friendwise) to say something, and he said he didnt notice anything and that she was probably hasseling me. --Amber , " ~ PT ~ " <patchouli_troll> wrote: > Warm welcome to the group, Amber. Guest guest
That's horrible! Why would someone say something like that? Nothing to be embarassed about- its not you that has a problem! hmph. I hate it when people are so unaccepting. I don't go preaching my word, (unless I am continually provoked, of course) and neither should that icky nurse. Guest guest
hi amber, welcome to the group. don't let that nurse get to you. she obviously does not know what she's talking about. if anything, i would assume a vegetarian diet produces fewer ketones. many people who are on high protein/low carb diets experience bad breath and/or body odor that is caused by ketosis. i'd ignore any future remarks she makes. susie --- Amber <your_babes_is_here2003 wrote: > what the nurse told me kind of embarassed me. made > me feel a little > more self-conscious. she told me that she could > smell an odor. she > went on to say that she could smell the keytones, > that i was burning > muscle. > > not quite sure if i should believe her, as she is > against veg. i > have also been making sure that i have my proteins > from nuts, beans, > lentils, tofu....... > > she just really irritated me. i have one colleague > is is close > enough to me (friendwise) to say something, and he > said he didnt > notice anything and that she was probably hasseling > me. > > --Amber > > > > , " ~ PT ~ " > <patchouli_troll> wrote: > > Warm welcome to the group, Amber. Guest guest
believe it or not, it has actually got better. the first 2 months were very hard. people drilling me with questions about every piece of food i ate. i know our bodies go through changes when we choose to fast, or completely change our eating habits, but i just wasnt too sure what to think. elisa <lavendercowz wrote: That's horrible! Guest guest
Interesting she could smell ketones from not eating meat, they are a direct result of not eating starch. ketones could get off balance due to diabetes or metabolic problems. - " Amber Reyes " <your_babes_is_here2003 Thursday, June 17, 2004 2:01 AM Re: Re: Hello Amber; was: New to the group > believe it or not, it has actually got better. the first 2 months were very hard. people drilling me with questions about every piece of food i ate. > > i know our bodies go through changes when we choose to fast, or completely change our eating habits, but i just wasnt too sure what to think. > > elisa <lavendercowz wrote: > That's horrible! Guest guest
What a mean person that nurse is. i don't think she knows a thing about nutrition, but she sure knows a thing or two about being a nasty [i won't say it]. Don't worry about her, Amber. From the diet you described it isn't possible for her to " smell " you, so maybe she was smelling her own nasty self, eh? Your friend is right and that other nurse is just wrong and being harsh. Never know what it is that makes people act in such a horrid manner. i am glad you shared that with us here and i hope the posts from others have been encouraging to you. ~ pt~ I frequently tramped eight or ten miles through the deepest snow to keep an appointment with a beech-tree, or a yellow birch, or an old acquaintance among the pines. ~ Henry David Thoreau, naturalist and author (1817-1862) ~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~*~~~~ , " Amber " < your_babes_is_here2003> wrote: > i want to say thank you to everyone for the warm welcoming. > > what the nurse told me kind of embarassed me. made me feel a little > more self-conscious. she told me that she could smell an odor. she > went on to say that she could smell the keytones, that i was burning > muscle. > > not quite sure if i should believe her, as she is against veg. i > have also been making sure that i have my proteins from nuts, beans, > lentils, tofu....... > > she just really irritated me. i have one colleague is is close > enough to me (friendwise) to say something, and he said he didnt > notice anything and that she was probably hasseling me. > > --Amber
