It's what your body gets used to, in many cases. Okay, some people can eat anything. Fine. Let them. But for me being a vegetarian is no longer a matter of choice - when I tried to eat me*t - something kinda buried in sauce and served with lots of vegetables - some considerable time ago to please my host (it was a very unusual situation - trust me) I got through it okay cuz it was pretty innocuous stuff as long as one didn't think about it. BUT my digestion suffered terribly. That's not the only time, but it was the last time. So, whether they like it or not, people will have to understand that you *cannot* eat me*t. Quite apart from any ethical issues, you cannot because your body won't tolerate it. You have, as I say, lots of company. Whether or not they started out intolerant of animal protein, most longterm veggies share your 'problem' - if that's what it is ;=) I've spoken to many of them about this, and they agree - although most are indeed reluctant to admit that they tried to eat animal protein . . . Guest guest
Yeah, about a year ago my metabolism shifted, I feel into this depression, and I started having major menstrual issues. Got something to take care of the latter, but then I was less tolerant of " all-nighters " or drastic shifts in what I ate. I started taking digestive supplements, etc. So finally, this past February, I decided to become a vegetarian. mainly to see what it was like. And problems with my digestion and other things cleared up less than gradually, and I'm very thankful for it. So... that's my little random story. I've been veggie for about 5 months now, I guess. It feels great! And it's great to have a bunch of people to chat with about it. Oh, and also, my parents are now doing this, particularly my mom. That does help. , psybermus <psybermus> wrote: > >I always thaught that i was weird because every1 i > know is >always > >telling me im makeing it up and stuff but... > > you're not weird *lol* And you know a lot of us would > find, if we tried, that we are *now* unable to digest > meat - or for vegans eggs and dairy. Guest guest
A friend of mine became vegan strictly for dietary reasons. She has severe IBS, and basically eating any dairy or meat makes her painfully ill (I have IBS too, but not so severely.) So no, you're not alone. It happens.
