Guest guest
Does anyone have any recommendations??? Any brand/recipe impress you? I tried out a bag of frozen meatless meatballs from Trader Joes last night and they weren't popular with the hubby. They were distinctively light (kinda bready/tofuy) and didn't even come close to having any flavor or substance. I used them in a sweet and sour meatball recipe so maybe they'd fare better in a tomato-based sauce atop some pasta. Not sure.
Guest guest
I like Nate's. Whole Foods carries them where I live. If you try them, let me know what you think. I did use them in a tomato sauce. I can't remember if I liked Trader Joe's version. I know I tried them a long time ago. https://www.wegmans.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1 & store\ Id=10052 & catalogId=1 & productId=361027 ________________________________ homeinfm <majorshome Tue, December 8, 2009 11:43:22 AM meatball substitute  Does anyone have any recommendations? ?? Guest guest
Check out http://blog.fatfreevegan.com/2008/10/pasta-with-peppers-and-sausage.html I am not a fan of pre-made fake meat products, but I thought what the heck, I'll try this sausage recipe (I did not make the pasta, just the sausages). They were fantastic! I steamed like suggested, and then I sliced them and browned them before adding tomato sauce, onions, garlic, peppers and spices. Also put them on a vegan pizza after browning. YUMMY. That website fatfreevegan.com is a great resource!
