Guest guest
I've never used breadcrumbs, but I know there are about, oh, I don't, about 20 million uses for them, LOL - I've seen them in the store but always wondered how to make them. Now I know! :-) ***Sara***

Guest guest
That's not a stupid question Christie. Have you seen some of the questions I ask sometimes in here? I buy mine breadcrumbs in a round container. I never tried to make them, I don't know how. Guest guest
I make mine and depending on what you need them for, there are 2 methods. If the recipe allows for fresh- then you just whir the needed amount of bread in a food processor- do it in small batches so it doesn't lump up due to the moisture in the bread. You can keep any extra in an airtight container or bag for the same amount of time you'd keep a loaf of bread. For dry breadcrumbs, I toast the bread in the oven until dry through (doesn't have to necessarily brown), then you can whir in the processor or crush by putting them in a bag and rolling over them with a rolling pin or heavy can, or even using mortar and pestle. These will keep longer in storage (about a month) as long as they are in an airtight bag or container. With the dry method, I usually do an entire loaf at a time... HTH! I buy mine breadcrumbs in a round container. I never tried to make them, I don't know how.
