She just uses " natural sweeteners " like brown rice syrup etc. instead of white sugar.
Guest guest
and Sugar Blues by William Dufty I've avoided all such books, but am really considering experimenting. I do like Sweet and Natural by Meredith McCarty.... more than 120 sugar-free adn dairy-free desserts On Mar 3, 2006, at 4:40 PM, Amy wrote: > > > I need that book. Guest guest
yes, that is true... I do think it is a good place to start if looking to use 'healthier'?? sweeteners... the title is a little misleading . how are you doing with keeping sugar out of your diet?? have you cut it out completely?? have you noticed any changes? =) Jenni (the nosey frugal vegan! ha ha!) Guest guest
> how are you doing with keeping sugar out of your diet?? have you cut > it out completely?? have you noticed any changes? > =) I did really, really well for about three weeks. The last three days though, I've been PMSing and ate an entire bag of chocolate chips. :-( On the upside, there are no more in the house! *lol* After about a week of not eating any sugar except fruit (and trying not be excessive with that) - I really noticed a clearer mind, more even temperament... more energy. That feeling is really helping me stick with it (with the exception of the last few days anyway). I also find that focusing on making sure to eat say, enough protein, and enough calories, really helps me not focus on what I might be " missing " . WHen I want something sweet - I've learned I'm usually bored or upset... so learning what else to do in that respect has improved my overall outlook. Guest guest
Try replacing sugar recipes with things that have green chilis especially or spicy food in general. Green chilis especially kick in the brain endorphins that lack of signal sugar cravings. Also at least substitute white sugar with a natural sugar like honey, maple, rice syrup or organic sugar, stevia or Sucanat. White sugar has all the nutrients taken out and uses solvents and other chemicals that your body does not like. It's up to you. GB Re: Amy and the book > I need that book. I LOVE my sugar!
