Guest guest
My daughter could cook it's more of me being on the cautious side as to why she doesn't do more. If I can't supervise I'm not comfortable with her or any of them using fire. We use gas. She would do more. She isn't real graceful with a knife yet either....=) Robin www.crittersplace.com
Guest guest
I feel exactly the same way. I may be overly cautious with my girls and cooking. They do help me at times, though. My 13 yr old gets impatient and bored, but my ten yr old is a pretty good helper. , " Whittington5 " <critters wrote: > > > My daughter could cook it's more of me being on the cautious side as to why she doesn't do more. > If I can't supervise I'm not comfortable with her or any of them using fire. Guest guest
There are some really great vegetarian cooking with kids books and many of the recipes are no fire, no knife- Pretend Soup (this author has 3 kids' cooking books out now I think) and Herb The Vegetarian Dragon are some of our favorites... Guest guest
Robin, My children's father used to say " if you don't teach that girl how to cook she will never learn " ..He was wrong..Not only is she an excellent cook but so are both my sons. None of them *cooked* when they were young. They helped make cookies but that was it. I believe the actual cooking with flame and heat should be by adults or very responsible teens with supervision. Most serious accidents happen in the home. Burns being a main injury. All in good time. Guest guest
I simply HATE having the kids in the kitchen with me. I thought it was the size of our kitchen, so we bought a house witha big kitchen and I still hate having them in there when I'm cooking. My 7 yr old can make raw dishes like coleslaw, tomato salad, etc. and I let her use the electric sandwich maker. My 9.5 yr old can make macaroni & cheese and other stuff in the microwave. meg beetlefan37 wrote: > I feel exactly the same way. I may be overly cautious with my girls > and cooking. Guest guest
Don't get me wrong my kids do help in the kitchen and they even cook with supervision but since I'm not going to be home I don't let them near the stove or oven. Guest guest
HI Meg: I love having my daughter in the kitchen with me. If my son would I would also love having him in there with me. My daughter is 16 we cook together all the time. My son is 19 his cooking consists of maybe reheating. I wish we had a kitchen were my husband son and daughter could all be in there while I was cooking if they wanted to. " ~ Thanks for these book titles! My kids are 15 and 12 years old now, and my eldest knows how to cook very well, but i am always looking for good recipes for my youngest to try. i want to encourage him to eat healthier and to cook for himself; he's a special challenge since he hates veggies! ~ pt ~ Oh that I and my choir of partners were in yon glen up there, no witness beneath the white sun, save the bright star and the planets; no simple infant with no sense, no gabbling one there nor lying one to spread about the story. ~ Carmina Gadelica (trans, and ed.
