Guest guest
Group, Due to the large amt. of tornadoes recently, the hurricane season, and the real possibility of the Bird Flu epidemic/pandemic, I am wondering if this group would be interested in a Disaster Plan for Vegetarians/Vegans? I recently spoke to my local health dept. and they suspect the bird flu to enter the US sometime this yr. perhaps in the Fall. They are suggesting that apx.34,000 people could contact the bird flu in my city alone. The Health Dept is suggesting that schools and markets might close and people would be advised to remain in their homes. They suggest that each family have a stock pile of food, etc. I have read that it is easier for Vegetarians/Vegans to withstand a disaster because they do not eat meat which spoils faster than any other food. I think most of us have a very good idea what to have on hand but I am thinking that a prepared list might help all of us if we choose to stock our homes with needed supplies. Hurricane Katrina left many thousands unprepared, and we witnessed first hand what can happen in a disaster such as this. I personally have an emergency pack always on hand because I have experience living alone in the mountains. If you are interested let me know and we can work together to file a simple plan for all of us. Deanna
Guest guest
Hi, > Group, > Due to the large amt. of tornadoes recently, the > hurricane season, and the real possibility of the > Bird Flu epidemic/pandemic, I am wondering if > this group would be interested in a Disaster > Plan for Vegetarians/Vegans? Sounds like a good idea. We also have emergency supplies available but these were all based on earthquake type preparedness. We need more water and more food but we have lots of other necessary supplies. Personally I would rather be in the mountains if it does actually appear since supposedly someone said the military will take over any cities hit by the avian flu. Probably I shouldn't talk about the monetary connection between Rumsfeld and the makers of tamiflu either. http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0511/S00036.htm http://www.ahrp.org/cms/content/view/39/27/ Sorry. Anyway, there are some sites out there like this: http://www.geftakysassembly.com/Articles/NewDirections/Pandemic.htm <http://www.geftakysassembly.com/Articles/NewDirections/Pandemic.htm> Although I probably won't follow these directions: http://www.pilleriin.ee/h5n1/kommentaarid/ " March 13, 2006 — In a remarkable speech over the weekend, Secretary of Health and Human Services Michael Leavitt recommended that Americans start storing canned tuna and powdered milk under their beds as the prospect of a deadly bird flu outbreak approaches the United States. " Gary P.S. I'm wondering if a bird flu outbreak is what these are for? or 911 type stuff? http://www.abovetopsecret.com/pages/camps.html Sorry, I've obviously been getting too many paranoid conspiracy theory emails from various (or at least I hope they're just paranoid.) --- genny_y2k <genny_y2k wrote: > Group, > Due to the large amt. of tornadoes recently, the > hurricane season, and > the real possibility of the Bird Flu > epidemic/pandemic, I am > wondering if this group would be interested in a > Disaster Plan for > Vegetarians/Vegans? > I recently spoke to my local health dept. and they > suspect the bird > flu to enter the US sometime this yr. perhaps in the > Fall. The main page www.honeyvillegrain.com gives more details about their company, the title bar of which describes themselves as " Honeyville Food Conservation Storage for Disaster Readiness with Storable Emergency and Survival Food Reserves " They have grains, legumes, dried eggs/milk, freeze dried fruits/veggies, powdered smoothie mixes, soy products, etc., etc.. -Erin
