Guest guest
I've been lurking and also trying a few recipes from the files. I'm not a complete vegetarian yet but was wondering if any of the members have a few cookbooks to recommend. I need something with easy to make recipes and easy to find ingredients. Happy to be a part of the group. Bonnie Mail Bring photos to life! New PhotoMail makes sharing a breeze.
Guest guest
welcome!!! there is a file where I've put a few of the recommendations that have gone through this list .. I " m sure I've missed some, (Please folks, .. just remind me and I'll add all recommendations to the file!) in the meantime ...,. here are a few, and what some of our members have said about them... as for beginners... the vegetarian cookbook for Dummies has been mentioned recently as a wonderful source! =) again, welcome, and enjoy our group! Jenni ~~~~~~~~~~~ SEA VEGETABLE SPECIFIC BOOKS ~~~~~~~~~~~ " Sea Vegetable Celebration " by Shep Erhart and Leslie Cerier This is one of my favorite cookbooks ~ recommended by Donna ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ VEGETARIAN SPECIFIC BOOKS>>> * for vegan ~~~~~~~~~~~ " The Compassionate Cook " by Peta * ~ recommended by Jenni " The Clueless Vegetarian " ~ recommended by Fiona " Instead of Chicken, Instead of Turkey " by Laren Davis (One of my favorites ~ Donna) " The Expanding Light Cookbook " By - Blanche Agassy McCord Vegetarian Favorites from California's Premier Yoga Retreat. The reacipes are easy to follow, bursting with flavor and don't take long to prepare, the ingredients aren't hard to find either. ( I use this cookbook often... ~ Donna) " Lean and Luscious Meatless " cookbook by Bobbie Hinman and Millie Snyder. If anyone runs across a copy of this cookbook, don't pass it up. I have never had a bad recipe yet. ~ Donna " Native Foods " www.nativefoods.com This is in my top five list of favorite cookbooks. Her site has a few recipes for you and I have posted a few in our files. Believe me her food in the restaurant is just how it tastes from the cookbook recipes and you are lucky to get a seat in this place. You have to try the rodeo ranch dressing. It's dairy free and better than any ranch dressing I've tried and it goes first when I serve it along side the bottled ranch.~ Donna " The Passionate Vegetarian " by Crescent Dragonwagon ~recommended by Bron and many more! " The Single Vegan " by Leah Leneman * ~ recommended by Donna " The Vegan Kitchen " by Freya Dinshah* (she's got great recipes and illustrations too ~ Donna) " Vegan Vittles " is a great one by Joanne Stepaniak * ~ Donna & Jenni " Vegetarian and Vegetable Cooking " by Christine Ingram ~ Highly RECOMMENDED, by Donna... great pictures! " The Vegetarian Bible " by Sarah brown ~ highly RECOMMENDED by Donna, great pics too! " Vegetarian Sushi Made Easy " by Hiroko Fukuhara, This cookbook is breathtaking. This book is jamed with easy step by step instructions and there are so many gorgoeous tasty sushi recipes using nori, seaweed and an array of vegetables. RECOMMENDED by Donna These cookbooks are put out by the restaurant DH & I went to at Thanksgiving (Millennium in San Francisco). One is called " The Millennium Cookbook " and the other is called " The Artful Vegan " . Both are jam-packed with fancy, exceedingly delicious vegan food fit for any party you could possibly imagine, but many are involved recipes (ie some recipes ask you to make one or two others first). However, many of them can be adapted to be easier as well. Both are available on Amazon or other bookstores; the main author is Eric Tucker. They are published by 10 Speed Press. RECOMMENDED BY Amy ~~~~~~~~~~~~ TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein) SPECIFIC BOOKS >>>> ~~~~~~~~~~~~ " The TVP Cookbook " by Dorothy R. Bates. Easy to make recipes and so far I haven't found a bad one yet. ~ Donna On Mar 15, 2006, at 2:37 PM, Bonnie bombardier wrote: > I've been lurking and also trying a few recipes from the files. > I'm not a complete vegetarian yet but was wondering > if any of the members have a few cookbooks to recommend. > I need something with easy to make recipes and easy to find > ingredients. Happy to be a part of the group. Bonnie Vegetarian 5-Ingredient Gourmet is an easy one. Some of the recipes are a little mild in flavor, but that's because they're all so simple. I just add a few more spices.
