Guest guest
I need to serve dinner to a large group of youths. Anyone have any great recipes to share that won't kill my pocketbook and that the kids will like? Thanks! Robin
Guest guest
I do this so often it isn't funny and they always ask for these two things over and over again. I make a huge pot of spaghetti and then put it in the crockpot. They love the way the sauce soaks into the pasta, really changed the flavor after to leave it in the crockpot for a few hours and garlic bread. Toast it up and they don't care if it's room temp. I also make them trays of bean and Mexican rice enchiladas with green sauce instead of red, (after tasting the green sauce they will tell me they like it better). I chop a bunch of green onions over the top and sprinkle some grated soy cheese (they don't even know the difference). They love this two dishes. If you can get avocados on sale then the avocado pie is also perfect. I haven't seen one of them that won't eat chips and hummus, they eat the whole dish of hummus and one might ask after wards, what was they yummy dip.....LOL They also love homemade baked mac & cheese and we have several recipes in the files. For dessert a bundt cake or cookie bars go a long way. Donna Whittington5 <critters wrote: I need to serve dinner to a large group of youths. Guest guest
Let's see, how about a big crock-pot of homemade vegetarian chile with round tortilla chips? It's always easier if you have something that stays warm and I always tend to rely on the crock-pot. There are so many dips in the files you could use. Guest guest
Thanks for the ideas but a crock-pot size serving won't do. I have no idea how to make Hummus. I've eaten it many times before. We are talking a " large " group of kids. And it needs to be frugal. I'm on a tight budget. Thanks again, Robin
Guest guest
When I have this many I will fill the crockpot with spaghetti and keep a roaster full in the oven on warm and transfer to the crockpot as needed. Hummus is very easy, there are several recipes in the appetizer and also bean folders. It's made in the blender or food processor.
