Guest guest
I am Bea (Beatriz) and I come from Campinas, S. Paulo, Brazil. I am almost 60, a former teacher and and artisan nowadays. I deal with many crafts: weaving, basketry (using old newspapers/magazines), macramé, quilling, Patchwork, cloth dolls/handabags, X-stitching, Hardanger, papier maché, recycled paper, texture, American Folk Art, clay, and beads. My days should have 60 hours!!!! My 2 boys Eduardo (35) and Antonio Carlos (almost 34) live and work in S. Paulo (about 60 miles from here). I am divorced and live with my 4 adorable cats: Chou, my oldie (16yo) and Spotty, Ebony and Ivory (aka " Fluffy " - they are all 3yo). By the way I just loved the cats you have!!! I was an ovo-lacto-vegetarian for many years then one day when I certainly was totally out of my mind I ruined everything but I am doing my best to go back to " the right path " again. I also have to get rid of many kilos and I will certainly need your help, lol!!!! I am sure you are all very nice people and I will be very happy here! Wish you all a very nice day! Guest guest
Thank you, Amy!!! You are very kind!!! Beatriz is the spelling used in Portuguese speaking countries and if I am not mistaken Spanish, as well. Come play with me, any time! Do start Quilling, I am pretty sure you will be instantly hooked!!! I do not have a home page yet, have no idea how to start one, guess I will have to ask one of my boys to help me but in the meantime I will find some pics and will send them to you, OK? I am sorry to hear about the consequences of your " Cooking adventures " this weekend and I do hope you soon get back to your favourites!!! Have a nice day!!! See you around, Bea
Guest guest
Hi Bea: Welcome to the group. I too would love to see pictures of your work. Gayle akfral Mon, 27 Mar 2006 09:43:07 EST Re: Helloooooooo!!!!!!! Welcome Bea! I love the spelling of your name, how beautiful! I want to come play in your studio, quilling is something I would love to try, I have all the supplies just not the time. I also knit, cross stitch (though I haven't in years), and rubber stamp. I want to make a quilt too. You will find loads of good recipes here. If you have a website showing some of your art I'd love to see it if you want to email me off list. Guest guest
Hi Bea: Welcome to our group. Ah, hardanger caught my eye. Back in the 50s and 60s my Danish grandmother used to teach hardanger classes. She had students come from all over the world and spend the summer learning how to do this beautiful embroidary. I have several of her pieces in my possession. It's so special and is almost a lost art. Several of her alter cloths are still being used in a lot of our temples, today, even after all this time. I used to do quilling, years ago. My eyesight is almost gone now, but I remember the days when I was " artsy " too. I had so much fun. Knitting, crocheting, embroidery, Indian beadwork and leather crafts, upholstery, children's furniture, are just a few of my passions. I now concentrate on my lifelong passion for cooking and collecting recipes. I've been cooking for about 60 years now and you should see my house, bookcases, filing cabinets and boxes full of recipes. I'm a great grandmother who is in poor health, and can't do many physical endeavors, but thank the good Lord I can still cook. Again, welcome honey, and I know you're going to have fun here on the link. Joanie WA State, USA
Guest guest
Joanie, Enjoyed reading your *uplifting* message to Bea. Seems to me that you have those great memories that we enjoy recalling later in our lives. A good lesson to the youngsters to live in the *NOW* and create good memories for the future. I would sure love to come to your house for dinner. Bet you are a great cook. From one happy grandmother to another Smiles and hugs coming your way Deanna in Colorado , grow514 wrote: > > Hi Bea: > Welcome to our group. Ah, hardanger caught my eye. Guest guest
Hi Deanna: How nice to hear from you. Well, about being a good cook...I manage to get by. I've been doing if for so long now, and still enjoy it. It's the one creative endeavor I can still indulge myself in. But, here I am an " old dog " trying to learn new tricks. There's just the two of us in the house now, and I'm having difficulty cooking for just the two of us. I prefer cooking for a crowd. Nothing is more fun than to feed a large hungry crowd. As you can imagine I have a lot of leftovers in my freezer. I'm trying to get away from that. Maybe one of these days I'll succeed.
