Hi Christie,

Just wondering if you made the polenta or maybe I missed your post. I know you

were going to try making some.

I'm ashamed to say that I'm still feeling too intimidated by it, but I

saw your Italian Polenta Lasagna recipe and decided that I really must

cook it tonight. I got put off by a friend on Friday who told me that

the readymade polenta is no good. However, I shall never know unless I

try it for myself. I shall grill it and eat it with some fresh pasta

sauce. If I really don't like it I can always have something else. I

don't know why it has become such a big issue. Thank you for the

prompt!

LOL Christie, I bought a tube and thought what planet did this weird looking

stuff fall off of. I tried it plain and didn't care for it. Once I doctored it

up with the sauce, herbs and spices then I loved it. I have a feeling you are

going to enjoy any of the posted recipes a lot.

CHristie - comparatively, readymade polenta isn't that great... making

your own is always better. But, if you grill it, and use some strong

flavors on it (pasta sauce with garlic? :-)), it's fine. But next

time you see medium-grind cornmeal, or corn grits, or uncooked polenta

(however you see it in your stores), pick some up and try it - it's

easy to make! Plus, then you'll get to eat it soft (fresh cooked,

texture like cream of wheat or a little thicker),and refrigerated/set

up, to grill, bake whatever (which is the only option for teh premade

stuff).

Thanks to your encouragement I had polenta for dinner! I tried

grilling it and nothing seemed to be happening so I fried it in

olive oil which made it a bit too greasy - anyway I smothered it in

fresh tomato and herb sauce with extra garlic and it was ok.

Tomorrow I shall try one of the other suggestions. I shall

definitely make my own next time as the packet is rather large and I

shall probably be eating it for the rest of the week. Also the ready

made seemed a bit salty for my taste , although, to be honest,

mostly it tasted of the Patagonian purple garlic I added to my sauce

which would overpower anything.
