Hi Christie,

Thanks for telling me about the reason that I have never seen stevia in

Holland. If it isn't approved I guess I couldn't even order it online and

'import' it legally. Do you by any chance happen to know why it isn't

approved by the EU?

Cheers from Marie

I doubt if you will find stevia in Holland, Marie, as it is not

approved by the EU.

Hi Marie

This was the link I found when I googled stevia - you may find

others in Holland.

Thanks for the link Christie,

I have read the info on the site. I wonder why the EU hasn't approved stevia

yet the FDA in US has done so.

Thanks again,

Marie

Marie,

The FDA did not exactly approve stevia in the US. For many years it was

banned. You can get it in the US but you cannot sell or buy it as a sweetener.

It's a kind of technicality. It can be sold as a food supplement but cannot be

sold as anything associated with sweetness because that would put it in the

category as a food additive.

Marie, the US hasn't approved it as a sweetener, only as a supplement.

Supplements are largely unregulated.
