You know I have this awersome Asian ingredient book and I take it with me when I

shop in the Asian markets. I try to find out what I'm buying but sometimes the

sign above the veggie is in characters and I never do find out. I love the nuri

and buy a huge bunch for 50 cents. Hard to even find decent fresh chives and

nuri tastes even better to me.

The name of my book is :

" Asian Ingredients " a guideto the foodstuffs of China, Japan, Korea, Thailand

and Vietnam by Bruce Cost

I found mine used for a few dollars, it has a wealth of information on

cooking, many recipes, etc. 322 page book and Amazon might have a used copy if

anyone is interested.

Hey, I have these growing in my garden. I just thought I had weird chives.

They taste pretty good though. I use them when I make fingerling potatoes. I cut

the potatoes in fourths, boil til tender, drain put back in pan add butter, some

fresh chopped parsley (just a little) and alot of snipped nuri.

Japanese chives (nuri)

See if you can find some nuri, it's like chives but a better flavor, slight

garlic It's good in stir fries, chopped over rice, in salads, etc. I also like

to use black rice and black sesame seeds.

you must be reading our minds here as we are planning a trip to a new Asian

supermarket that opened recently and is suppose to stockpiled with all kinds of

great things --

would you happen to have the ISBN for the book you mention -- wondering if it

is the same book that I already have -- really need to find with color pictures

in it so that when the sign is written in a language that I do not know can

possibly tell by sight -- thanks again --
