Guest guest
Hi, Last summer I had luck with basil in a pot (outdoors) want to branch out to growing some veggies... Did you put your peppers and tomotoes in full sun and how big of a pot do they need? What other veggies will do well in pots? We have a yard, but very rocky soil and I also don't know what kinds of chemicals the previous owners put out there... thanks melissa p , " genny_y2k " <genny_y2k wrote: > > Last year I moved into an apartment and was so disappointed not to have > a plot of ground to plant. Guest guest
Melissa, The pots are not huge maybe 12 inches across. My balcony faces South so it is an excellent source of morning sun. I used clay pots for the herbs and veggies because I feel they are safest. Maybe the paper or coconut fiber pots are even better. Read up on companion planting..Makes a big difference. Small peppers are so easy to grow and really produce a lot of fruit. I also emptied my used tea bags into my tomato pots and they liked it. I used no fertalizer. Just potting soil. I had no trouble with bugs and I placed a rubber snake near the pots and not a single bird came in the area. My trees are filled with birds and squirels but they were afraid of my *snake* and it's a pretend cobra. No such snake in Colorado..LOL..Poor birds I felt sorry about it because I feed them in the winter.--- In , " Melissa " <mapalicka wrote: > > Hi, > Last summer I had luck with basil in a pot (outdoors) want to branch > out to growing some veggies... > Did you put your peppers and tomotoes in full sun and how big of a > pot do they need? Guest guest
When I was in Kentucky, I used #10 cans tomatoes for soup then recycled them as pots & grew some kick*** tomatoes, peppers & basil....they were a very good size. hth. genny_y2k <genny_y2k wrote: Beth “The right adult at the right time can make an enormous difference. Guest guest
I put peppers in large pots, possibly 12 to 14 inches across and probably 10 or more inches deep. I put them in full sun. They did great. Tomatoes were all in raised beds.
