Guest guest
I know this thread went through a year or so ago, but I was wondering if anyone had had any luck with vegan ballet shoes in the states. Specifically, I have a six year old boy who whould need a pair of size 2 that are black. He has been just going to class in socks (okay with his teacher), but for the recital I was supposed to get him actual ballet shoes (for safety on the stage). He saw on the box that it said leather, and he wouldn't even try them on. I am normally one to avoid leather myself -- and to applaud him for sticking up for what is right -- but I don't know what else to do in this case. He wants to just wear socks, but at the last recital he did that and slipped a little on the stage. That doesn't matter to him... it does matter to his teacher... any thoughts would be really appreaciated. Thanks Cindy ________ DSL – Something to write home about. Just $16.99/mo. or less. dsl. Guest guest
I know there are vegan ballet shoes somewhere, and someone on this list will find them for you, but if all else fails....see if the teacher would say OK if he used dancer's rosin on his bare feet or on his socks. Guest guest
Thank you for the suggestion of dancer's rosin! I spoke to his teacher, and dancer's rosin on black socks will be fine for now. She told me where I could find it for a couple dollars (far less than a pair of ballet shoes), and said that if I don't get a chance to get any by the show this weekend, that she always has some. That said, it is nice to know there are now places in the US that have vegan shoes if we need them in the future. This group is great for things like this. Thanks again.
