Guest guest
Don't worry too much in the beginning. Your baby is small and so it doesn't need a lot. Just do your best. Try to stick with bland foods, like toast, crackers, etc. Ginger ale worked well for me. It's really not uncommon to even lose weight in your first trimester. I know I did. You'll gain it back in no time! Just tell your doctor if you can't keep anything down. Eat whatever sounds goods, and DON " T WORRY! Good luck! >Elizabeth Ster <veggiemama05 > >vgr > need pregnancy advice >Sun, 22 Jan 2006 04:30:34 -0800 (PST) > > hi everyone. i just found out a few weeks ago that i am pregnant. > i am having problems finding things to eat that wont make me sick...and i >also want to make sure i eat right for my baby. any advice? > thanks > > > >http://www.baby-gaga.com/ " > >src= " http://tickers.baby-gaga.com/t/squsquadg20010830_-8_Antonio+is.png " >alt= " baby " border= " 0 " /> > > > Autos. Guest guest
My husband brought me toast and herbal tea every morning before I got out of bed. As long as I ate that before moving, and kept a little something in my stomach at all times, I was fine. My girlfriend nibbles on pretzels all day. Guest guest
Bagels were my best friend through my three pregnancies. While I never had morning sickness to the point of vomiting, my nausea and heartburn lasted until the day of delivery with all three. I lived on bagels, waffles with nut butter and jelly, and smoothies with protein powder. I never gained very much, but had three very healthy babies! Good luck and enjoy this wonderful time! Guest guest
Don't worry about not wanting to eat much in the first trimester...that changes. I made myself eat during my 1st trimester even though I was nauseous for a number of weeks (all day long, although I never actually threw up). I'm a vegan and was worried about my protein intake. I actually gained weight, while a lot of mothers lose weight in the 1st trimester. My midwife also said that the amount of protein that a pregnant women is " suppose " to eat is insane. Don't worry...that queasy feeling goes away for most women. I never got ravenous like some women do. I did end up taking an iron supplement, but other than that I had a very healthy pregnancy, gained about 30 lbs, had a healthy baby, and was back in my pre-maternity clothes immediately. My midwife said she usually doesn't worry about vegetarian/vegan women and their nutrition, because they're always more educated and ontop of the issue than their carnivore counterparts who often put on too much weight. During that queasy stage, nothing appealed to me...bland food was about all I could do. And you can get Coke syrup if you want to skip the carbonation. It's sold for upset stomachs. Good luck! Guest guest
Here are some tips that may help your morning sickness. Hope you are feeling better soon! It's may be helpful to have a starchy/carbohydrate snack before even getting out of bed in the morning - maybe some crackers, pretzels, dry cereal, toast, etc. Eat 5-6 small meals a day to avoid going too long without food. Between meals, drink fluids such as water, fruit juice, Popsicles or frozen fruit bars, vegan jello, sherbet, or if nauseated - try gingerale or ginger tea. Avoid coffee. Limit greasy, fried or spicy foods - peppers, chili or garlic may be triggers. Trying salty, bitter or tart foods may help. Food at room temperature or cooler may be better than warm foods - fruit, cold sandwich, fruit smoothies, cereal & (soy or rice) milk etc. Eat very slowly. Keep away from strong odors - perfume, food/drinks, cleaning agents, smoke, etc. Avoid sudden movement. Try using a wet face cloth, cold seltzer and fresh lemon. Keep head elevated 1-2 hours after eating. Guest guest
I went to a pregnancy nutrition lecture co-sponsored by Mothering magazine at Whole Foods last fall and if I remember correctly, they recommended drinking a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of maple syrup and a teaspoon of apple cider mixed in. Apparently if you drink sips of this starting when you wake up and continuing throughout the day (as necessary), it helps a lot with nausea. Something about the sugar helps--might be why Coke works for some. Food-wise, try to eat little power-packed snacks all day. Have you tried Lara bars? They are just dates and fruits and nuts (no other ingredients; they have 5 grams of protein each and are really tasty. Maybe also little soy yogurts, fruits, trail mix, etc. I hope you have a wonderful pregnancy.
