Guest guest
Have you tried putting breastmilk on his lip. It heals so many things. The tricky part is getting it to stay there. You can try taking L-lysine yourself and using lysine gel on it. Rescue remedy might help as well. christinepensa writes: Does anyone have any natural/vegan " cures " (Yes, I know there is no cure for a virus unfortunately)
Guest guest
Hello, My almost 11 month old son who is still breastfeeding appears to be developing a cold sore in the middle right above his upper lip. I just noticed it about an hour ago. I was very prone to cold sores growing up but haven't had one in years. Does anyone have any suggestions? I read that I can still bf him but what can I do to ease the pain and help it go away faster? When I was younger there was this cream my mom use to put on the sores (can't remember the name) but I think it contains lanolin so I don't want to use that and I am concern about how young he is. Does anyone have any natural/vegan " cures " (Yes, I know there is no cure for a virus unfortunately) Thanks Christine
Guest guest
Breastmilk itself is a great cure for many skin problems -- just express a bit onto his sore. Keep doing it every time you're nursing him and it will probably clear up fairly soon. Guest guest
it was recently brought to my attention that vegetarian groups such as VRG consider lanolin to be vegetarian (but not vegan, of course) because most if not all lanolin is processed from wool sheared from live sheep. In doing the research, I did read of a concern that the processing of lanolin does not necessary rid it of any pesticides, etc. that the sheep may have been exposed to. Not saying that you're going to consider lanolin acceptable, just that I was surprised to learn of this distinction, and it might make a difference for you. Guest guest
Christine, Umeboshi plum paste has anti-viral properties. You might try putting just a bit on the cold sore when yur child is sleeping. My wife is currently putting it on a planters wart. Guest guest
Hi there, I have read that Tea Tree Oil is good for getting rid of cold sores. I use it for a lot of things but I don't get cold sores so I haven't tried it on them. The link below tells about tea tree oil and its various uses including cold sores (scroll way down). http://www.holistic-online.com/Aromatherapy/aroma_ess-oil-tea-tree-oil.htm Jacqueline http://adhdnme.blogspot.com On Behalf Of christinepensa February 24, 2006 3:41 PM cold sore relief Hello, My almost 11 month old son who is still breastfeeding appears to be developing a cold sore in the middle right above his upper lip. Guest guest
Your baby is nursing on the answer. Put breastmilk on the cold sore. Breast milk is amazing! I used it when I daughters had diaper rashes, chicken pox, eye infections, ear infections, cuts, etc. It works wonders! Lucy Watkins
Guest guest
I have had facial herpes for almost 20 years. It is on the end of my nose (very attractive during a breakout). I was not diagonsed until about 1.5 years ago. It has been miserable but now I know how to handle it...first since you are breast feeding avoid nuts and Braggs aminos. There is an amino acid in both that herpes thrives on. If you avoid it then baby will avoid it. When I eat Braggs I will get a break out within a couple of days. Next, take large does of lysine (check with health food store or Perscription for Nutritional Healing book for dosing). Lysine counteracts the amino (can't remember the name) that herpes thrives on. Then your milk will be supercharged with lysine. Finally, tea tree oil (the ONLY thing I have ever used to stop my herpes in its tracks!) and lysine ointment (health food store or online at Vermont County Store) right on the sore--or for adults the tingly spot. These are the steps I take and FINALLY after 20 years I can control these horrible outbreaks.
Guest guest
Deena and everyone else, Thank you very much for your tips for my baby's cold sore. I take Lysine almost daily and there is no problem for me to put breast milk on the sore I just squirt it on when he's sleeping. I will try the tea tree oil too. I never thought about the nuts and Braggs... Thanks again! Deena <rocketmom67 wrote: I have had facial herpes for almost 20 years. It is on the end of my nose (very attractive during a breakout). Guest guest
Hi there, I agree Tea Tree oil is linked to this condition, but for a baby its a strong taste and there are some risks attached in putting some essences on the lips. There are some milder ones with the same anti-viral properties. Simply go to: http://www.therapyessence.com/wellbeing.php There you will see several menus (drop down) The one marked 'therapeutic values' includes 'anti viral' and selecting that will show the commonly used, and safe options, for anti viral properties. As for the cream, I have used Calendula cream on such sores to good effect. I am sure there are others. best wishes, Frank , " Jacq " <jacqcote wrote: > > Hi there, > > I have read that Tea Tree Oil is good for getting rid of cold sores.
