Guest guest
I figured since this is a family site, there are probably others that attend/have playgroups, so here is an idea. I'm having a Lorax playgroup this month in celebration of Dr. Seuss's birthday and Earth Day. There will be a reading of The Lorax (an environmentally friendly tale), and I'll be serving food that all came from the Earth, i.e., vegan. I'm doing some other stuff, but that's the gist of it. I think Earth Day is March 20th, and it lends itself to a lot of neat ideas for kids.
Guest guest
That's a great idea. Maybe you can plant a tree in honor of The Lorax. I read the book to my son when he'd just turned two and he was so grief-stricken by the book (he sobbed uncontrollably) that I haven't read it to him since. I love the book, though. Guest guest
That is a great idea Lisa. I may have to get a copy of the book and have a family celebration. Guest guest
Lisa, Earth Day is April 20, not March. But Arbor Day is also in April, so maybe you could continue the theme again next month! Guest guest
Bonnie, thanks for the date!!! My friend today who's in the playgroup thought it was always in April. I don't know what Web site I was looking at. I probably just misread it anyways...mother's brain. So I can celebrate Dr. Seuss's b-day with the Lorax, this month, and still have another excuse to have another environmentally aware playgroup in April! That makes me even happier! I like to spread the word as often as possible in the least aggressive manner, and what's more fun than a playgroup! Another idea for Earth Day...now it gives me time to order these little stress balls colored like the Earth. I'm going to hand them out to the kids as favors and instruct them that they have to take care of their Earth. Hopefully the ball will be a visual reminder. , " Bonnie Barker " <bebarker96 wrote: > > Lisa, > > Earth Day is April 20, not March. Guest guest
Hey! Even better. I think I will have an earthday/birthday party for my youngest son whose birthday is April 25. He goes to a very environmentally conscious school so the kids that will be coming will enjoy that sort of theme. We are having his birthday the weekend before so it will work well.
