flax & teflon

My wife and I were surprised to notice, on a bottle of organic flax oil,

a warning that pregnant and nursing moms should not consume it! We were

astonished, having heard much about the benefits of flax oil -- and

having used it throughout the pregnancy and first ten months of our

breastfed daugther's life.

Any idea what this is about? Is flax oil really bad for nursing moms?

And, there are no safety warnings on our baking pans. But, my wife

noticed today that the no-stick coating on one baking pan is peeling.

There were little metallic flecks on the vegan squares she baked. I

guess this is not strictly a vegetarian issue. But, any idea if that's a

bad thing? (We are planning on converting the pan to a seed planter or

something -- and we scraped off the squares!)

We'd be grateful for any help on either of these ...

Take care

No problem with flax oil for nursing mom's. I suggest it for all my mom's

pregnant and nursing.

The teflon is the rough part I threw out all my cookware with teflon yrs.

ago.

My belief after reading and speaking with many people is that it is toxic

and should be avoided.

Hope that helps.

Peace,

I never heard of flax as being problematic in anyway.

As for Teflon, they are trying to get it banned because it is known to be

carcenogenic and is not flushed out of the body.

I've heard that since flax is a source of phytoestrogen that large doses may

stimulate uterine contractions.

Thanks for the responses on this.

I Googled " telon health hazard " and found a site urging us to throw it

all away. I know the vapours kill parrots. So, we are chucking it.

Funny about the flax, eh. We aren't giving that up yet ...

Thanks again to all who shared thoughts on this. Appreciated!

I saw a label similar to that once on a cheep walmart brand flax oil.

We were trying to save money and got something different from our

usual brand. My husband thinks that is was due to an inferior

processing method used in the cheeper brand that made it less safe

than the flax oil we usually used. Not sure if this is correct but it

is a thought anyway.
