Guest guest
I wouldn't worry much about making a birthday party 'healthy.' If I were throwing a party at home I would probably have a birthday cake, brownies, maybe soy ice cream - kids probably won't notice a cake or brownies being vegan so the ice cream might draw more (unwanted) attention to the food being vegan. I'd make that call depending on what kids would be there. Or have both a vegetarian and vegan version of ice cream available. Then I'd probably do chips and salsa. If I were going to serve a meal I would probably get a couple of pizzas. One with cheese and the others cheeseless with lots of healthy veggie toppings. Lots of kids are lactose intolerant so cheeseless pizza is okay for most people. I would go the 'cheeseless' route rather than use something like veganrella. With a child's birthday I would shy away from anything that might make your kids seem weird or different. Guest guest
We have done make your own pizza and decorate your own cupcakes parties before. Our kids want to play and PARTY! so I focused more on having wonderful games, unless you go all out, the kids don't notice the food that much anyway. Here's one of our favorite games we play at every party (and sometimes just on a lazy Saturday) Sticker Tag is very easy to do. Give each kid a sheet of stickers, I usually use stars like teachers give out. The goal is to stick stickers on everyone else, and try not to get too many on yourself. The " winner " is whoever has the least amount of stickers on them in the end. It's great for little kids and big ones, their age basically decides how serious they take it. My little ones don't care who wins, and it's just as much fun. I always try to have 1 or 2 more games than I think I'm going to need just incase some don't last as long as I think they should, or the kids lose interest. I also try to set up a " craft " table so anyone not interested in playing games (or just a little shy) have something to do. Good luck! Guest guest
When Lexie turns 7 we are just going to have a sleepover (birthday cake and pizza to celebrate) - yep we are already planning it. We tend to plan big parties and count on lots of guests and then only have 7 or 8 kids show up. I always feel obligated to invite grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc.. but for the most part they haven't actually been coming. So I think we are going to progress towards friends only parties in the future. I like the sticker game idea:) Renee Messenger with Voice. PC-to-Phone calls for ridiculously low rates.
