Guest guest
Hi all, I am trying to find some eco-friendly gifts for my cousins, ages 2 (boy) and 4 (girl). Aside from the usual natural wood blocks and organic cotton stuffed animals, do any of you have any other ideas of toys that be a little more exciting and original? I'm looking to spend $50 or less if possible. Their father does a lot of work with trees, so unless it is sustainably harvested and/or certified or recycled in some way, I would be a little leery of giving them something made of wood. I am open to the idea of making something, but I don't have much free time on my hands these days so it would have to take maybe 10 hours or less... Thanks for your help! Maria How low will we go? Guest guest
There are so many " exciting and original books " on the market today, why not consider giving a book perhaps about animals, nature, etc. (I know that paper is made out of wood, but . . .) I have children who are about the same ages as your cousins that love to receive and " read " books. My son received a sea animal puzzle book on his recent birthday. It contains 4 different puzzles that he loves for us to help him put together. - Maria Brenner Thursday, July 20, 2006 8:36 PM eco toys for kids age 2 and 4? Guest guest
When my daughter was small, we found blocks and trains made from sustainable wood at TJ Maxx, of all places. Wild Oats carries a few eco-friendly toys. Mothering Magazine has great resources for everything: www.motheringmagazine.com.
