Guest guest
The dairy and meat industry commercials infuriate me as well. I got the following idea from another thinking family. We have been using it for the past few years. When we sit down and watch tv; we discuss the commercials. We turn the sound off sometimes and guess what they might want to sell us and why. We rate the believability of the ads. This is a great way to get through some of the innate ads that come our way. Laura( in MD)
Guest guest
I agree. I saw this last night and became outraged! How do people possibly think they would lose weight by drinking milk which contains so much unhealthy saturdated fat and cholesterol. I told my husband, " and people believe this advertisement crap... " False advertisement is everywhere. We live in a world of deception. sarah <sgraystar wrote: has anyone seen those milk commercial on tv that say you will lose weight and stay slim if you have milk in your regular diet? Guest guest
There's a website mentioned in the latest Mothering magazine called the New American Dream, with the tagline Live Consciously, Buy Wisely, Make a Difference. They have a booklet for download called Tips for Parenting in a Commercial Culture which is apparently gives tips for teaching kids about commercials. I haven't explored it too in-depth yet, but here it is -- anyone else heard about it? http://www.newdream.org/ Heather VAP79 wrote: > > The dairy and meat industry commercials infuriate me as well. > I got the following idea from another thinking family. Guest guest
My daughter was seven or eight before we let her watch anything with commercials. Use commercials you find offensive as " teachable moments " . Let your child tell you what is wrong with the ads. VAP79 wrote: The dairy and meat industry commercials infuriate me as well.
