Guest guest
We dilute 100 % grape and apple juice half in half with water. We get stomach aches if we don't and it sure taste better with far less calories. We even make those 12 oz. frozen oJ concentrates make 2 qts when mixed with water and it tastes lots better to us. Guest guest
Yes water is my favorite beverage by a long shot. Most all I drink.. I drink about 7-8 glasses a day and more during the hot summer days, when we are outside perspiring a lot. Guest guest
I make a lot of iced Rooibos tea in the summer. It's sooo refreshing, and caffeine free so I can let the kids have some. I used to add a bit of honey, but after the discussions here I may switch to agave or something. We have a nice tea shop in town that sells loose-leaf, and there are lots of Rooibos flavours with dried fruits and things added. Delicious. Other than that we drink water and rice milk, with the occasional juice. I make a lot of smoothies with fresh fruit. Guest guest
i definitely cannot confess to being a water lover. it's really hard for me to drink water. i grew up drinking milk at every meal and rarely drank anything between meals. (isn't that weird?!) at school i drank juice. so i have it all ingrained in me to drink SOMETHING, not water. i get better about it when i'm pregnant, but when i'm not, i often have dehydration headaches and swelling from not getting enough water. so i'm trying to inculcate my son into drinking water first, soymilk second, and very diluted home-pressed juice third. i'm a tea person. for this pregnancy i'm drinking lots of iron teas and i give those to my son with some blackstrap molasses and lemon...he loves it, and i don't have to worry about his iron levels. and it keeps me pretty well-hydrated without the boring-ness of water. Guest guest
Same here. We just moved here and the water tastes good, and I've been drinking a lot more since getting here. Where we were before the water tasted like poison, vomit, and sewage mixed together. It was awful. I never drank water, and we'd buy bottled water for the kids to drink. Now we're just not used to drinking a lot of water! I drink tea or lemonade and the kids drink soy or rice milk, no more than one cup of juice a day, usually closer to none, and water in their room for naptime and bedtime so they don't get thirsty. It is nice to have good water again, though. Guest guest
i grew up in arizona, three houses down from the canal that processed our own water. i saw what went into the canal and also what came out of it, in the form of " floaty " water. it wasn't uncommon for the water coming out of our tap to have identifiable toilet paper in it. so we only drank bottled water then, and now i still think tap is just gross. when i moved to utah it was a long time before i felt willing to drink out of the tap and i can still only do it if it's brand-new water and full of so much ice i can't taste anything. Guest guest
That is just gross. Maybe someone should of called the authorities and got that cleaning process working right.......... That is contaminated water and should have been reported......... I'm surprised there weren't lots of sick folks. TP is supposed to disentigrate in water, so maybe it was klennex. So not of the quality to be put in to the public drinking water supply.. We have filters on our water line to the refrigerator and our sink, so most of the chemicals are taken out and some other stuff. Can't remember what all it mentioned, but we use it. and have great tasting water. - earthmother Monday, September 18, 2006 4:32 PM Re: Stanley - diluted juice i grew up in arizona, three houses down from the canal that processed our own water. i saw what went into the canal and also what came out of it, in the form of " floaty " water. it wasn't uncommon for the water coming out of our tap to have identifiable toilet paper in it. so we only drank bottled water then, and now i still think tap is just gross. when i moved to utah it was a long time before i felt willing to drink out of the tap and i can still only do it if it's brand-new water and full of so much ice i can't taste anything. Guest guest
I hear a lot of people saying that they only drink bottled water because they think that tap is gross. Do you realize that most bottled water comes from the same sources as tap water? I used to work on designing water treatment and conveyance systems and know first hand of one Pennsylvania bottled water source (major water brand too) that said right on the bottle " fresh spring water " . Well, that spring water was a spring in the middle of the county seat, surrounded by roads and buildings that was also the same exact water that the people in the town drank. The pipe just split and one went to the bottled water plant and the other went to people's homes. One of our projects was to put a special cover over the spring because they discovered that it was getting polluted with duck feces and road runoff. If I remember correctly (its been a while) bottled water actually has less stringent treatment requirements than public water. The companies just make sure that the treatment process makes it taste and look good but not nessesarily cleaner. So, there's your bottled water.... > - > earthmother > > Monday, September 18, 2006 4:32 PM > Re: Stanley - diluted juice > so we only drank bottled > water then, and now i still think tap is just gross. > > > >
