Guest guest
Hi Paul, We got rid of our microwave seven years ago. We'd heard a lot about nutrients being destroyed by cooking in it, as well as the danger of radiation. We then met a chef who prepared great vegan meals, and he said he refused to use one for the above reasons as well as taste. The adjustment at first was difficult. We definitely create a lot more dishes with out the microwave and it takes longer to prepare things. But on the flip side, we think the food tastes better cooked on or in the stove. And hopefully we're getting more nutrients from it (but I don't really know the validity of that). Guest guest
Hi Ours could probably do with replacing (30 yrs old) but other than losing some power over the last three years it seems to work just fine. I only use it for defrosting and reheating - 99% of what I cook is from scratch and done in the oven or on the stovetop. Guest guest
We replace ours every 5-6 years. The seals can get bad, causing leakage. We take the old one to an electronics recycling center. Guest guest
Hi Problem is, it's part of a double-oven unit so we'd probably end up having to replace both parts. It works well for what we use it for. Maggie
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, Just had to say that microwaves are considered so dangerous in Europe, that they are not even available. This info is according to some Europeans I have met.I question whether its a case of money talking here in the U.S.What I mean is,have the manufacturers lobbied and pushed for the sale of them here, knowing the danger? That being said,we have one but I avoid using it as much as possible.I have also heard even being in a room with one is dangerous on a cellular level.I am curious if this is all urban myth or real.I believe mercola.com has some info on them.I think there is so much unseen energy affecting us on a deep level that we are somewhat oblivious to. love all, serve all, Tracy
Guest guest
Hi They were certainly available in Britain when I left ten years ago!!!! Maggie San Ramon CA
Guest guest
I live in Geneva, Switzerland and they're available in all the major stores here so I'm not sure about the 'not available in Europe' thing. Came across this interesting article about 'exploding the microwave myth' : http://ezinearticles.com/?Exploding-the-Microwave-Myth & id=194546 says how they work and everything. Amy M.
