Guest guest
Well, I tried making rice milk in my new soymilk maker and I was pleased with the results. My 3-year old, who would rather drink Rice Dream milk than eat food, tolerated the rice milk I made. My 6-year old was more thrilled with the soy milk I made sweetened with dates. I added 5 tbs. (started with 3 tbs.) of brown rice syrup and 1/8 tsp. of salt to the batch of rice milk. I saw a recipe in the manual for making soy milk that tastes similar to Soy Dream but didn't see one for making rice milk similar to Rice Dream. I sent an e-mail message to Soya Joy asking for such a recipe if it exists. The clean up from making the rice milk took more time than the one from making soy milk, but it was not as bad as I expected. I really think the key is cleaning up the machine soon after the milk is ready.
Guest guest
How much rice did you use? Just the little included measuring cup full? Did you use white rice or brown rice? I'm glad it turned out well for you!! admartin5 wrote: Well, I tried making rice milk in my new soymilk maker and I was pleased with the results. Guest guest
I was confused about how much rice I should actually use and decided to use 1 cup of long grain brown rice. I didn't have any problems with the milk overflowing either so I guess I used the right amount! I had a question about drinking milk that is ready in less than 30 minutes. If we were to eat brown rice or soybeans, we would have to cook them much longer than the amount of time required to make milk from them. Are we setting ourselves up for possible stomach problems?!! - Kadee M Tuesday, March 06, 2007 1:12 PM Re: Update on Making Rice Milk How much rice did you use? Guest guest
I will try that next time then. I think the reason it's okay after such a short amount of time is because the beans are ground up so fine and they cook faster since they're in smaller pieces. It wouldn't take very long at all for such teeny little soybean bits to cook. admartin5 wrote: I was confused about how much rice I should actually use and decided to use 1 cup of long grain brown rice.
