Guest guest
I cooked veggies and tossed them in the food processor. Tossed in raw fruits. Froze in ice cube trays. One of eva's favs was sweet potato and applesauce. I mixed funky combos like watermelon-pineapple. >what kind of tools do you use to make baby food? > >Ilse >
Guest guest
We had small blender made especially for baby food, and then that died. Now I use our regular blender, which works great as well. Sometimes I just use a fork, it just depends on what I'm making! Jessica, Robert, and Baby Jesse Life is an adventure in forgiveness. Guest guest
pretty simple! I was wondering what kinds of grinders people had bought, if any? I see one in one-step ahead that looks inexpensive but mightnot work better than a fork. Guest guest
i have this problem too. it's because blenders are designed that mix foods up with the addition of lots of liquid. a food processor is much better for foods that aren't going to have a lot of water mixed in. Guest guest
I usually make a good amount and then store it, which works well since my son scarfs down food. Guest guest
The Braun immersion blender is great for this sort of thing. You can keep the food in whatever pan or bowl it's in, and just blend it on the spot until it's the consistency you want. I think the cheapest version (new) is about $20. Now that the kids are older, one of our regular uses for the immersion blender is to puree soup for one kid because she doesn't like texture. This way, we all eat the same thing at a meal, just in slightly different form. Liz
Guest guest
A hand grinder for travel (happy baby? runs around ten dollars new) and a mini food processor (or fork) for home. Guest guest
We used a fork for most soft foods (sweet potatoes/other vegies/etc). I had a regular blender, I used it for millet, oatmeal, other dry stuff, plus large batches of fruits/vegies to store in teh freezer (freeze in ice cube tray, pop out store blocks in freezer bags - our ice cube trays each cube held about 2 Tbsp, which was perfect ) I got a free babyfood blender thing (it was like a magic blender type of a thing). It was used/free and eventually wore out. I got a Kiss blender (it's like one of those as well, but was cheaper where I got it). It's amazing and I use it more than the blender all the time - for other things, not babyfood. But it would have done the job in 3 seconds and cleanup included in that, too. We steamed stuff, we also tossed in extra vegies in the oven when we baked anything (sweet potatoes, regular potatoes). We also blenderized whatever we were eating, with a bit less spice (no pepper, usually). Guest guest
yeah, that is exactly how we do it (we use jars only for traveling). Our weirdest combination is peaches and squash. My husband started it and I thought he was crazy but my daughter LOVES it. darranged wrote: I cooked veggies and tossed them in the food processor. Tossed in raw fruits. Froze in ice cube trays. Guest guest
We use Beaba Babycook: http://www.beaba.com/en/index_service_consommateur.htm it's great because it steams the food and then you take out the little basket and purée it in the same container. You can use the juice it cooked in to conserve nutrients. Got ours in Switzerland, though, not sure where else they have 'em. Also, the food mill is great for bananas and avocadoes cuz it gets out all the strings. It's portable, too. http://www.amazon.com/Kid-Co-Food-Mill-Tote/dp/B00028LVHQ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/002-77\ 05102-8821611?ie=UTF8 & s=hpc & qid=1173548058 & sr=8-2 all the best, Amy GE, Switz. ______________________________\ ____ TV dinner still cooling?
