Guest guest
We didn't like the texture of the rice milk I made in the soymilk maker. We also do not like the texture of the oat milk I made either (though for some reason our dogs absolutely love it... I have been making some especially for them so they can have a bit here and there). But for different tastes and textures, we tried mixing half rice milk and half soy milk, and it is great!! I also made some with quinoa, which I mixed with the same amount of soymilk. That was also good. Next time I'm going to try barley, then maybe millet. This is such fun!! It's just that much less soy in our diets... not that we're opposed to soy, we just don't want too much of any one thing. This way we get the nice texture of soy milk with different tastes and nutrients of other things. Plus quinoa smells so good cooking. Guest guest
Did you soak the rice beforehand for 6-8 hours? Also, did you use long grain brown rice? I've had Rice Dream milk before and the texture of my homemade milk reminded me of the Rice Dream milk texture. - Kadee M Monday, March 12, 2007 12:43 AM new thing for the soymilk maker We didn't like the texture of the rice milk I made in the soymilk maker. Guest guest
I did use brown rice, but I only soaked it about 5 hours since the grains are smaller... maybe I should soak it longer next time though. admartin5 wrote: Did you soak the rice beforehand for 6-8 hours? Guest guest
Would it help the texture if you ran it through cheesecloth? Guest guest
It's not really that, it's just really thin compared to the soy milk. Very watery. robin koloms <rkoloms wrote: Would it help the texture if you ran it through cheesecloth?
