Guest guest
Hi, My 6 yr old son is a very picky eater and I am trying to expand his dinner choices. He only will eat black bean and cheese wraps, pasta with butter, french toast, humus and crackers, chunks of cheddar cheese, pepper strips, and tofu with ketchup. He mostly likes the crunchy foods and does not like combinations. I don't mind keeping it simply (no cassoroles or combo foods llke rice, beans and veggies together), but I'm concerned he will get bored with dinner. I need some new ideas. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, Evan
Guest guest
This has been a popular topic on this list; if you go to the group home page and type the word " picky " in the search box you will find the prior conversations. Here are some popular options: take your son to the grocery store or (even better) to a farmer's market and let him pick out a new vegetable to introduce to the family and let him prepare or help prepare it go to the library and check out a kids cookbook (i love the moosewood). let him pick out a couple of recipes to prepare for the family kids love to dunk! veggies in hommous or salad dressing, fruit in yoghurt evanmark2000 <egoldstein wrote: Hi, My 6 yr old son is a very picky eater and I am trying to expand his dinner choices. Guest guest
Will he eat soups? My son liked this sweet potato/leek/pumpkin soup I made (it was for our housewarming party last Oct). It's puree'd, it was a beautiful orange color. Serve with bread, yum. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Pumpkin-Sweet-Potato-and-Leek-Soup/Detail.aspx I subb'd vegan ingredients, and we had canned pumpkin instead of fresh at the time. For something quick, would he eat something like spaghetti? You can make a 'cream' sauce by pureeing tofu into, and spinach. I've made a vegan version of spaghetti O's (vegweb.com is where I got it from) and it really is good. Basically little pasta of whatever shape (I have my son pick out what kind he wants - vegi rainbow alphabets and numbers are his fav). My son doesn't really like to dip stuff, so I don't know much of things on that front. He used to like pretzles with peanutbutter to dip them in, but he wasn't interested in that kind of thing much, and hardly at all anymore. Good luck. I bet the archives would have a ton of stuff!
