Guest guest
Heather, Some ideas that are not really recipies. Avocados, you can use them in wraps, salads, as dips etc. maybe have a breakfast burrito- any kind of bean and maybe add potatoes or rice. Nut butters- almond, cashew, sunflower etc. Add to pasta, grains on top of fruit or to a smoothie. Trail mix between meals. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Hi Heather Well cycleriders at tour the France eats tons of pasta. The carbs are good fillers and gives you somthing to burn ;-) Maby your body type need more protein so eat more of that, and then more pasta, rice or bread. Spirulina can be filling and gives a lot of great aminoacids, vit, and minerals, great to ad if you are living a really active life. Remember to eat extra vitamins and minerals when you workout/work, you are loosing more when you are really active. Guest guest
Cook some beans and eat those with some chopped up onions and fresh tomatoes. Ideally you'd have some cornbread too. Very, very few calories in the beans and vegetables, and the beans have protein and fiber and it'll make you feel full. Pretty much anything with protein and fiber together will make you feel full. heatherguschel <heatherguschel wrote: Hi, It seems like lately i am hungry all of the time, i've been working a lot physically, (i clean houses) and it seems like the vegetables and things get burned up so fast. does anyone have a any recipes for something filling, maybe a kind of bean burrito or soy patty? something, i'm dreaming about food at night LOL. Guest guest
Whole wheat pasta, brown rice and beans are all very filling. Every two or three weeks I make a load of rice in the cooker; I put it in wax bags, put the bag in a big zip lock and freeze; the wax bags can go into the microwave for a quick defrost. Stuffed shells are a great make-ahead; I've also made a quick version with small shells (I cook and drain the shells, mixed and heat all of the ingredients in the pot). 18 uncooked jumbo pasta shells 1 32-oz. can tomato sauce 1/4 cup oatmeal 2 teaspoons chili powder 1 teaspoon cumin 1 small onion, chopped 4 sprigs cilantro, coarsely chopped 1 4-oz. can diced green chiles 1 15-oz. can pinto beans, drained 1 15-oz can dark red kidney beans, drained (OR 1/2 lb crumbled meat sub, browned) 1 cup shredded cheese of choice Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. Cook and drain pasta shells as directed on package. Set aside. While pasta is cooking, mix tomato sauce with chili powder and cumin. Set aside. Warm beans in microwave or on stove top. Add in oatmeal while warm. Add 3/4 cheese, set aside. Stir in cilantro, green chilies and pinto beans. Pour 1 cup of the seasoned sauce into a 9- x13-inch baking dish. Spoon approximately 1 1/2 tablespoons bean mixture into each pasta shell. Place filled sides of shells up to reveal the inside of shell and then pour the remaining seasoned tomato sauce over the shells. Sprinkle remaining cheese. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. heatherguschel <heatherguschel wrote: Hi, It seems like lately i am hungry all of the time, i've been working a lot physically, (i clean houses) and it seems like the vegetables and things get burned up so fast. does anyone have a any recipes for something filling, maybe a kind of bean burrito or soy patty? something, i'm dreaming about food at night LOL. Guest guest
If you do nut butters and coconut, I generally take some dates and throw them in the food processorwith a little water... when mushy, I add in a few tblsp. of nut butter (usually almond) ... then I'll add in carob chips or other chopped dried fruits...take it out of the fp, throw in a bowl... add in some oats whole, and some oat flour (oats ground in the coffee grinder work fine), and coconut... you want it to get stiff and hard to mix, till you have to mix it with your hands.... pack it and press it down into a a square container of some sort...cover with waxed paper... leave for a few hours in the fridge... cut into squares. They're very filling and my kids live on their " snacky bars " some days! - heatherguschel<heatherguschel < > Sunday, June 24, 2007 7:22 AM something very filling? Guest guest
Hi, I'd agree with the adding more protien to your diet, maybe add some pan sered tofu or add some extra oil (i use canola or olive oil) in my beans. My son just turned 4, and I'd have to say that he needs to eat something almost every 2 hours, and instead of junky kinds of snacks we give him what is basically a mini-meal, pb on crackers or toast, vegan cheese on crackers/toast, or even half a grilled veganrella sandwich, something quick, usually is what we do. We have fruit and cereal/fruit bars on hand, and dried fruit, or I make a trail mix with nuts, dry fruit and sometimes the occasional chocolate or carob chips in it. I don't tend to feel hungry, but I do tend to have small meals throughout the day as well instead of 3 big meals (I do tend to eat with my son, so I do the same for me, small 'meals' throughout the day). Maybe eating about the same, but smaller meals might help you too?
