Guest guest
With school approaching, I thought I'd take a casual poll among the wise vegparents. What " lunch meat " does your veg child prefer? Mine are partial to St. Yves' " ham " slices, but we're ready to try something new. Thank you! Guest guest
my 5 year old like Tofurky Turkey slices, or Yves turkey Karyn On Behalf Of Jill Tuesday, August 14, 2007 6:25 PM Fave faux lunch meat? Guest guest
We recently discovered the Tofurky slices after a recommendation on this group -- the Italian Deli flavour is especially good. They also like the Yves salami flavour. The Yves roast turkey is vile (in our opinion). That said, we don't eat many, maybe one package each month between the 5 of us! Guest guest
The only fake meat my daughter likes is the Yves pepperoni; it's pretty highly processed, so it's a once in a while treat. The list archives are loaded with school lunch ideas. Robin Jill <jill wrote: With school approaching, I thought I'd take a casual poll among the wise vegparents. Guest guest
My kids don't really like fake meat except for Smart Dogs and seitan - preferably homemade. God's Peace, Gayle
Guest guest
Thanks for the replies. I invested in a good thermos for both of them this year and will try to make a lot of pasta salads, which they will always eat. They do like to pack sandwiches like the other kids, but have been ribbed pretty good about the " lunch meat " . Happily, they don't seem to care as much about the teasing. My oldest is starting middle school, so maybe being a vegetarian will be suddenly " cool " and not " freakish " . We'll see. Must get the book by the Vegan Lunchbox lady... Guest guest
My whole family likes Tofurky from Turtle Island. We bring it along on road trips for Subway sandwiches. They only like the Oven Roasted flavor, but I like the Hickory Smoked flavor in spinach wraps (with hummus and/or tofutti cream cheese (the non hydrogenated kind) and grated carrots -- yum) Tracy On Aug 14, 2007, at 4:25 PM, Jill wrote: > With school approaching, I thought I'd take a casual poll among the > wise vegparents. Guest guest
We call them " veggie slices " , and use either the Yves or the Lightlife " turkey " . Liz
