Guest guest
While my children are waay past this age , this is a question that all parents are concerned about. I can't remember how old your baby is (sorry). Are you breastfeeding? I am very much a breastfeeding advocate! That is the best thing you can do for young babies. I had to go through this too about breastfeeding and attachment parenting. Esp. with my daughter who was bf for 2 years. She also didn't care about eating solids until around 9 months. No baby food for this girl, she didn't like it at all! One day she was suddenly interested in what we were eating. I remember her grabbing a handful of rice off my son's plate. So then she started eating table food with no problems. I ended up giving away a couple dozen jars of baby food so they wouldn't expire. I was literally the first in my family to ever breastfeed. My sister started her formula-fed kids on cereal at 5 or 6 weeks! (through a bottle with an enlarged hole!) to " get them to sleep at night. " Like the saying goes, other people all have opinions, especially grandparents. Often people feel you are somehow implying they did something wrong with their decisions. You'll get a lot of conflicting advice. Sometimes you just have to smile, say OK, and go on doing what you are doing! It's your decision, you shouldn't have to justify anything. Having a happy, healthy baby is the best " argument. " If after reading up and weighing all the information, you feel the need to go with a non-vegan diet for your baby, then go with it. If you are into attachment parenting, this is common advice. Go with your instincts. Here's some links: http://www.vegetarianbaby.com/ http://www.vegfamily.com/babies-and-toddlers/index.htm http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/vsk/children.html http://www.pcrm.org/news/health030317.html http://www.peta.org/mc/factsheet_display.asp?ID=100 All of these articles seem to quote Dr. Spock. If you have too much trouble, you can say " Dr. Spock says..... " Some books that were recommended. If you can't afford to buy a bunch of books (I couldn't) try the library. Larger city libraries tend to carry more books on this topic. Mine here in Memphis doesn't have much. Sometimes people will share their books when their children are older and they don't need them anymore. . If I still had my " Baby Book " I would send it to you. Can anyone here do this?
