Guest guest
Does anyone have a verifiable scientific link that says whether TVP has MSG or not? My husband swears his migraines are caused, in part, by MSG and that my dd starts bouncing off the walls after she's eaten something with MSG in it. I have found a dozen or so sights that all have the same document that say TVP DOES have MSG - and these sights also often have WAP references (so not guessing there's verifiable science behind them). I found one sight that said TVP does NOT contain MSG but no science behind it. I'm not talking the soy crumbles or meat substitutes (those clearly state " natural flavors " which is code for MSG). I mean just the dry TVP that you can reconstitute. I only use it sparingly - every few months when I'm craving a sloppy joe. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Phyllis
Guest guest
I think that you need to read the ingredients to see if the TVP you purchase had added MSG (beware of " natural flavors " ). It is possible that the ingredients before or during cooking can form MSG. I would be concerned about genetically modified (is a potato with jellyfish genes vegetarian?), also. Guest guest
Ingredients listed says " defatted soy " but from what I've been reading about MSG, it 1) doesn't HAVE to be listed if it's considered 'naturally occuring' in cooking the product ; 2) can be listed as a large list of names; 3) may or may not be in tvp depending on what site you read. Was hoping someone here had more info. Thanks. > I think that you need to read the ingredients...
