Guest guest Posted October 11, 2001 Report Share Posted October 11, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Whole Grain And Vegetable Patties Recipe By : The Macrobiotic Way, by Michio Kushi, page 152 Serving Size : 1 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Grains And Cereals Main Dishes, Vegetarian Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 4 cups pressure-cooked or boiled millet 1 cup onions -- diced 1/2 cup carrots -- diced 1/4 cup celery -- diced 1/2 cup cooked seitan -- diced (see separate recipe) 1 cup water tamari whole wheat pastry flour -- (optional) OR whole wheat flour dark sesame oil In a bowl, mix millet and vegetables thoroughly. Mix in seitan. Add water and a small amount of tamari and mix again. Grain should be moist enough so that you will be able to make patties; if necessary, add a little more water. If grain is too moist, add a little whole wheat pastry flour until you obtain the right consistency. Take 1 handful of grain and vegetable mixture and shape into a patty. Repeat until all grain is gone. Heat a moderate amount of sesame oil in a skillet. Place several patties in skillet, cover, and reduce flame to medium-low. Cook until golden brown. Turn patties over and cook until golden brown. Remove and place on a serving platter.
