Guest guest Posted November 4, 2001 Report Share Posted November 4, 2001 * Exported from MasterCook * Sweet Asian Reduction Sauce Recipe By : Mary Carroll, Healthful Cooking, Star Tribune 11/1/01 Serving Size : 6 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Sauces And Marinades Vegetables Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 1 teaspoon dark sesame oil 1/4 cup water 1/4 cup apple juice 1/2 cup minced onions 1 tablespoon grated ginger root 2 teaspoons minced garlic 1/4 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce 2 teaspoons arrowroot powder Sugar -- to taste Makes 3/4 cup. Heat oil in an 8-inch nonstick skillet or medium saucepan over medium-high heat.Add water and apple juice; bring to boil. Add onions, gingerroot and garlic.Cook 5 to 8 minutes, or until mixture is reduced to one-half its original volume.In small bowl, combine soy sauce with arrowroot. Stir to dissolve. Add to sauce; cook, stirring, for 1 minute, or until thickened. Add sugar to taste.
