Guest guest
There has been no disrespect here towards any members, vegetarian or otherwise. I should point out, however, that the list description clearly states that it is a *vegetarian* list, and therefore we assume that people joining are interested in following a vegetarian lifestyle even if they have not yet made the transition - and yes, we all have to start somewhere! No problem :-) So for those of you who are in transition, you will receive all the help you can to be vegetarian or vegan - which means discouraging, should you say you are tempted, the intake of me*t (or eggs or dairy, if you're transitioning to vegan). We're certainly not going to tell you it's okay to eat it! You would hardly expect that. As for those who have no intention of becoming vegetarian - well, you must have your own reasons for being here rather than on a health food list which includes vegetable dishes in its recipes - there are plenty of those. So all are welcome and all respected - as long as all remember to take care not to give offense to vegetarian and vegan members. (Best advice? Don't talk to veggies about eating non-veg food LOL) If however our expression of vegetarian principles offend non- vegetarians' who feel it is their right to eat me*t, that is unfortunate but to be expected. <siggghhhhh> Okay, boys and girls, class is over for the morning! :-) Best love to you all, Pat (veggiehound - list co-owner)
Guest guest
Just for clarification - I thought we could share egg and diary (included) recipes on this list? Or am I thinking of another list? Thanks! Guest guest
> Just for clarification - I thought we could share egg and diary (included) > recipes on this list? Or am I thinking of another list? Of course you can share egg and dairy recipes here - we're vegetarian not vegan, although we do have many honoured vegan members. members will find a note regarding recipes on the file you were sent upon joining and again at the beginning of each month. What I meant in the part of my email you quoted (and I really had meant to be clearer) was that we give support to ALL vegetarians including those in transition to vegetarianism; *and* if there were members moving from ovo-lacto vegetarianism to veganism, then we would give support to them also - suggest ways of being vegan or veganizing a recipe. You see? We do however tend to say to people who are having a lot of trouble with slimming down (and most people don't find it easy) that it would be a good idea to drop the cheese, butter and cream - it's so full of fat that the calories just mount up. (Also of course there's the little matter of cholesterol which is a problem for some.) For recipes? Hey, low-fat, low-cal is fine. Most recipes also tended to be marked vegan or ovo-lacto or lacto (whatever) in the Files. Okay? Soooooo, recipes???? Let's have some! Best love, Pat

" This is a vegetarian, not a vegan list, and egg and dairy are allowed. Sometimes if a recipe has a lot of high calorie dairy ingredients it is not posted to the files because it would not fit the theme of slimming recipes. When I can, as I post vegetarian recipes, I will add some notes on how to make them vegan. from Maida Citizens for Pets in Condos, http://www.petsincondos.org South Florida Vegetarian Events, http://www.soflavegevents.net
