Guest guest
I recently purchased Bob's Red Mill (LOVE those Bob's Red Mill products!!) white bean flour and another of garbanzo bean flour. I was thinking it might be able to be mixed up as a base for hummus, but I'm not so sure. If you had these two packages of flour, what would YOU do with them???? Thanks for any suggestions! Guest guest
Hi WhimsyT, Don't know what to do with your new flours, but fyi there is no flour in hummus; just chick peas, tahini, lemon juice, and seasonings like garlic or cayenne pepper. Regards, Karen

I think it was Bob's Red Mill brand. Garbanzo flour is made of ground garbanzo beans so you should be able to make an acceptable hummus with it. (I wonder what people in the Middle East use to make hummus - garbanzo flour or cooked garbanzos?) I used my garbanzo flour for pasta, but we are not crazy about the taste of it. Maybe I'll try something else, or use a lower proportion of garbanzo flour in the pasta and see if that is better. It had a sort of " green " taste that I just didn't like. It had a sort of " green " taste that I just didn't like. Never tried that. Hmmmm. Maybe you could mask that green taste with more green? Use the garbanzo flour to make spinach or basil pasta - or some such? Just a thought! Best love, Pat
