Thank you for your help.

If you wanted to make macr and cheese or lasagna can you do that? What would

you use for cheese?

tofu. We made a herbed tofu lasagna a couple weeks ago and it was yummy!

Silken tofu is very good for fillings and cheese replacement.

You can still make may of your favourite foods but you'll find you have to

be a bit inventive and they're much healthier.

I used to be vegan and i used to make 'cheese' style sauce by making a basic

white sauce (vegan margarine, flour and soya milk) then adding nutritional

yeast flakes. They are the cheesiest thing you can get apart from 'fake

cheeses' which you may be able to buy where you are which are made of soya.

But be warned some fake cheeses are not vegan, so check the packet.

There is a great book called The Uncheese Cookbook by Joanne Stepaniak that

gives you lots of ways of making 'cheesey' type sauces etc. Its well worth

investing in.

Hope that helps a bit,

" dusty lane " asked about making a slimming vegan mac 'n Cheez or

lasagna.

Check in the group files for the " fakes. " (Go to our home page,

/, click on Files, then

Recipes, then Fakes.) There are recipes for vegan un-cheeses, which

have way less fat than regular dairy cheese.
